In NY, the pay rate for school nurses is loooooow. I am thinking I need to supplement.

Do any of you work in the Summer? If so, what do you do?

That's so cool.

I work another job year round. During the school year, I work every other weekend at a rehab/post acute/LTC home. So that schedule is brutal since I'm M-F at the school and then saturday/sunday at the other place and then M-F again at the school then I have my weekend off. So I work 12 days on, 2 days off, 12 days on, 2 days off (factoring in Monday holidays and such sometimes it's 11 days on).

During summer and other breaks I pick up days and I'm required to work a certain number of holidays

Summer day camp or residential camp. Last summer I worked at a camp that cost ~ 400.oo a week to attend. I got to bring my dgd for FREE and they fed us for FREE everyday. And they paid me good money! It was awesome spending that time with her. She would pop into my office now and then, or I could go watch her do whatever she was doing. They had a zipline, a climbing tower, an inground pool, a pond, a water trampoline, etc. It was awesome. I am hoping to go back next summer! : )

Camp Nurse! My last School Nurse job was year round and I worked last summer, but Camp Nursing was an interesting experience.

I suggest if your looking for a camp job, to contact Camp Island Lake in PA. It's a high end sleep away camp and I believe that they may be looking for additional nurses...

I think I'm going to get a job at my old hospital if they still will have me...

I took this terribly low-paying position so I could have the summer off....HECK NO I don't have a summer job! :) I do think that if it wasn't so much fun I would consider going back to the hospital. I sure do miss the money!
