ugh, i am working on some major poundage and am looking for other nursing students who understand the concept of STRESS eating! -----------------------------------
anywho, i am on weight watchers and have lost over 40 pounds--with more to go. any takers? we can keep track of each other. i have three semesters left and my 34th birthday in in october--i want to lose about 20 pounds before my b-day and i want to look good in my whites at pinning! :)
Count me in too!!! I have gained about 30 pounds since I started school about 3 years ago. I am also an alumni of WW. I first joined about 15 years ago and lost over 30 pounds. I wore between a size 4 and 6. I didn't like being that small, it just wasn't me. Then the kids started coming. After my third child, I went back to WW and got back down to a size 8 and loved it . Then I started college and the weight started creeping on. When I was taking prereqs, I gained about 15 lbs. My first semester of nursing I gained 10 more. I picked up 5 more by the end of last semester. As soon as school ended, I started making use of my elliptical machine. I use it everyday for about 45 mins. I have also started adding some weights and resistance training. I am also very conscious about everything that goes in my mouth. I can't afford to go back to WW but I have my information. The FIT channel is also very helpful and motivational.
I have lost about 8 pounds since I started my program. I don't know how many inches I have lost since I started because I just started taking measurements. My body, especially my abs and butt, are more toned. Today I wore a pair of my size 12 capris and I must say, my tush looked pretty good. My 19th high school reunion is in October and I have this wonderfully sexy chocolate brown pantsuit my godsister gave me. Its a size 8 and I plan to be in it. Good luck to us all.
Well guys, I figure the summer is a good time to get into the habit before Fall classes kick our butts. Congrats to those of you who have lost it, and to those of us that need to get on/stay on track, well, lets just do it!You guys want to see what I have eaten today? Here goes:
32 oz H2O
2 diet pepsi
1 egg
1 english muffin
1 piece Ff cheese
2 whole wheat homemade blueberry muffins
1 bean burrito wrap thing
1 pt fudge bar
11 points so far...I find if I cook at home I lose much more weight--so this fall will be a challenge as I wont have as much time! If you guys want my muffin recipe let me know and I'll post it! :)
If you don't mind, I would like to join the weight loss group! I need to lose 50lbs! :smackingf I gained 20lbs during classes this past spring and 10lbs more during break~ Today is a new day!!!:innerconf
Hope to hear from you soon!

Yes, I'm also going to try to do a WW-esque program as I can't afford to go to the classes right now. I'm always trying to lose weight, lol, but never seem to get there. My bf says that's it's an emotional stopgap or something like that....well, what do you expect from a psych major. I spend all kinds of time on his couch, but we're not really doing...er...therapy....LOL!!! Anyway, I just recently starting having panic attacks which make me too nauseous to eat anything but small portions. Here's hoping my nerves have an effect on the size of my tummy....otherwise known as the thick cushy comforter covering my rock hard abs . I'm right there with you Michelle, I have about 85 pounds to lose as well!!

mmhhhmmmm yes I am! I wanna lose about 15 lbs over the next few months. I've been stress eating a lot and Im' not even in nursing school yet, I'm just takin preregs this summer (bio) and I've been cramming it all in, literally...
I'm not doin WW tho, i just wanna change my lifestyle and get more activity in it and healthier eating. I don't wanna get diabetes (yes, it runs in the family) or high cholesterol or any of the health problems that can result from an unhealthy lifestyle..
soooooooo here i go! I hope u all have success doing WW!
Hi, I understand the battle with weight. I've been traditionally a very active person, that is until I met my husband and had a child in the past 3 years. I am 5'3" or so and typically weight about 165-175. But keep in mind to me this is healthy (although considered overweight still) but at that weight, I run a 10 min mile without feeling like I might start having seizures or my heart will stop beating.......now I am still yes 5'3" but weight 211. I truly feel to be a good nurse is to be a good example and really want to get back to my pre-husband weight of 165 and lose those 50lbs or so, but balancing it all is so incredibly difficult. He loves me any which way I come packaged but I want to love me again and be the example I've always believed a healthcare provider should be to a patient.
I've been doing WW Core since Oct. 2004...all through pre-reqs (I lost weight durring Anatomy when most people gained). I start nursing school in Aug. So far I've lost 107 lbs! One of my inspirations to finaly start is writing an essay on self care for the direct entry masters nursing program I applied to. I did not get into that program (they only took 13 students), but I'm still living much healthier, and taking care of myself. I am not sure if I'm going to try to continue losing, or if I just want to start maintaining then. I'd like to lose another 15-20 lbs before maintaining, and to get to WW goal I'd have to lose another 53...ugh! We'll see what happens in Aug. as the stress of nursing school starts.
That is amazing-congrats!
Yes I am an emotional eater. I've gained 85 pounds in 3 years and I weigh over 200 pounds. I've just started the South Beach Diet and I hope it works....It's just that if I have a stressful test I have to pig out at a Chinese buffet later.....:chair:

Best wishes on SBD! :)
hello to all my fellow sufferers! i have one year left and definitely have packed on some poundage over the last 3 years! stress and boredome, combined with eating out too much due to a busy schedule are my main enemies. has anyone lost weight by just starting a gym membership? ok starting and actually going! lol i'm bad with dieting, but i don't exercise, so i'm hoping that if i become more physically active, then i'll lose some weight. anybody else try this theory? oh and to the poster about the lipton citrus green tea - have you read how many grams of sugar are in that thing? i had one for the first time the other day, tasted great, then i read the ingredients! ugh. oh well. lt
well, in my experience you have to combine BOTH diet and exercise...sucks, huh?

yeah me too diet and exercise, yep it does suck...i think if i could just exercise and eat what i want or visa-versa wouldn't it be nice...but then what good is skinny if you're not tone right...too bad i'm not either right now lol even though it's no laughing matter i need to keep the sense of humor and lose the weight!:pumpiron:

I'm in! I, too, used WW successfully in the past (and was a leader for awhile... kept me more honest!) but have put on an extra 25-30 lbs. since breaking my ankle 2 years ago. My biggest problem seems to be getting back into exercising. I was doing it regularly until the injury, surgery, and recovery but now I just sit on my ever-expanding butt.
I posted on weightlossbuddy.com for an exercise partner and emailed a couple of people from there who had indicated they wanted a buddy, but no response so far (almost 2 weeks). Anyone else in the Denver area who wants to meet and exercise together??
I also went online and printed up a coupon for 24 hour fitness - with the "student special" you can have a 3 month membership for around $100 (depending on the type of club). I'm taking one religion class this summer, so I have an active student ID, but the rep there said they don't even check them closely, so if you took the summer off you should still be ok.
Another motivator for me... I have to renew my driver's license in November and I'd have to increase my weight on there!!
Bad enough my beginning physical for nursing school will reflect my extra poundage, but a license here in Colorado lasts for 5 years.
