I'm pretty strict over medications, but do not think I would have participated in this!!!

Then, although she never had prior disciplinary problems, a strip search was conducted with the help of a school nurse and Wilson's assistant, both females

Wow, all that over Motrin!! I can't believe school officials went that far, and didn't' even contact her parents prior to searching this girl. I hope the Supreme Court rules in favor of this girl.

The day this occured in my school district would be the day I decide to homeschool and seriously consider not paying school district taxes. I'm all for safety at schools, but this is an outright abuse of power or maybe just a plain witch hunt. :angryfire

I remember reading about this. I just cannot imagine that anyone thought this was OK. No way I would have participated in this as the school nurse, and if they decided to do it without my participation, I would have been on the phone to the police. That is ASSAULT!

I so agree! No way would I participate. I am so super cautious even in my everday practice when listening to the heart and lungs, etc. I know sometimes I could hear better under a shirt - but, I work around it in order not to be invasive.

One of my classmates was suspended for bringing motrin to school. I understand there is zero tolerance, but I think schools take it too far. It's hard to sit in class all day when you have killer cramps. It seems like there should be bigger things to take care of, like illegal drugs or narcotics.
Were the pills identified as Motrin, and then the student was sent home. It makes no sense. You are right, there are more important "drugs" to seek out, like the illegal ones.
no.pills.were.found.......i wouldnt be surprised if it were some loser taking revenge on one of the "smart" kids......
