I just received my packet for the Glendale Weekend Day program, and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on how useful the optional "Structured Nursing Review" course really would be. I'm trying to get out with minimal expenditure, and I've been through many years of college previously, and am an efficient self-studier. But if the general consensus is that it is very valuable, I'll definitely spend the extra tuition.
Any thoughts would be most appreciated! thanks:)

I have taken this class in block 1 and 2 at CGCC, and I felt it was helpful. We practiced nclex type questions based on whatever the lecture was for the week as a group. I don't know if this is how other instructors teach this class, but what I also found was the teacher would often give extra tidbits of info, or expound on a lecture topic and those "tips" usually came in handy on the exams. Maybe you can email the instructor to see how they have the class structured. Good luck with your studies.

Waste of time; just do nclex questions on your own.

I just finished Block 1 Traditional at GCC and I took the review class. I found it extremly helpful b/c the teachers ask you what you (the class as a group) are having trouble with and they will go over it. There are alot of NCLEX questions that are done and I found it very nice b/c they break down the question and exactly how to answer which can be so confusing at times. The teachers also give alot of heads up in that class, for things that are on the test so you know what to study extra on. It depends on what kind of student you are. It pretty much is like a tuoring class. I would recommend taking it for Block 1.

I'm finishing block 1 at gwcc and the review class is a lifesaver. In my class, we go over all of the previous week's lectures and get to ask any questions or clarify anything you might have missed/misunderstood. it's been a rare week when I didn't get at least one question right on a quiz directly because of the review.
IMHO, it's the best money & time I've spent so far.

i am in block 2 of the weekend program at glendale. honestly, in block 1 all we did in the review class was go over the study guide one week, next week we didn't have the review class due to the exam, and the following week we went over the test. this was the schedule for the entire semester. not sure if any of us in the review class for block 1 weekend found it helpful, but for block 2 it's supposedly much more structured and helpful so i am taking it again this block.
