The human body was designed to exist in a bacteria laden environment, not a sterile one. Yes, hand washing is important, but we should also emphasize the importance of keeping our immune systems fit with proper diet, fresh air, exercise, and adequate sleep!

Oh goodness...I'm already creating a poster to put up. If that doesn't make someone wash their hands, nothing will!
Wouldn't some of that be "good bacteria"? As PPs mentioned, hands aren't (and shouldn't be) sterile. We need our microbiome to keep us healthy!
Though, I do agree that it's a striking image!

I know I should say that is nasty but it is actually a very beautiful picture, the various colors and handprint is pretty. You see bacteria ( I do too, lol), and I see art.

Right. I was thinking of that too. And that from what I've read, things like peanut allergies CAN (I'm not saying in all cases, ok?) be a product of a kid growing up in an overly-clean environment and not being exposed to much of anything as they grow up.

I actually think it's kind of pretty in a way - I have several prints of microbes under magnification and find them fascinating.
