StonyBrook ABSN: Class of 2021

Published

Hi all,

Thought I'd start a thread here so we can connect. I am in the process of taking my pre-reqs and plan to submit my application by the Oct 2019 deadline for the Summer 2020 start.

I'm planning on attending the Sept 19 info session on campus - anyone else going?

If I have not got asked to interview can I still be accepted?

No

Are they done sending out interviews?

That phase should have been completed in October/November. It's very unlikely you'd receive an invitation at this point in time. However, it's not impossible considering the current climate.

From what I’ve heard they’re all done with interviews but I guess you never know until you get the official rejection letter?

Hey guys,

I'm definitely late to this thread by a year + , but I'm just trying to get some insight if anyone has started Stony Brook's ABSN program yet? I live on LI and am trying to find more ABSN program as I've just graduated am looking into options

I'm currently finishing and retaking the prerequisites required to apply, but I was just wondering as far as the micro and Chemistry ... what types are they looking for?

Hi everyone! I have recently been accepted to the ABSN program and have a question for current students -how did Stony Brook manage clinicals during the pandemic? Are they still happening in person or were there any changes?

Thank you so much in advance!!

I am a current student and we have had clinicals this entire time. There were some changes but for the most part the university has really tried to keep us in the hospital. One of our psych rotations ended up being online but we did in person psych rotations as well. This semester our maternity rotation got shortened to 2 rotations instead of 4. Our med surg clinical has been cancelled but we have opportunities to volunteer on a med surg floor and vaccinate people to come up with hours.  Our capstone is also in question but as of right now they are still working on placements. They tell us things can change every day depending on how the numbers but I'm assuming the same will happen for the next incoming class.
