StonyBrook ABSN: Class of 2021

Hi all,

Thought I'd start a thread here so we can connect. I am in the process of taking my pre-reqs and plan to submit my application by the Oct 2019 deadline for the Summer 2020 start.

I'm planning on attending the Sept 19 info session on campus - anyone else going?

Hey guys. I got accepted back in January. I know those that were accepted are in a facebook group, but I don't have a facebook. Is there any other way you guys are communicating? I have so many questions now that we're getting closer to the semester.

What classes were we supposed to register for in the Fall? I registered for classes in the Summer and fall based on what I saw listed on the ABSN website, but I'm not sure if they're the right ones. Tried emailing one of the program directors and got no response.

Does anyone know where we get the scrubs?

Are we even doing clinical?

Why are half of our classes listed as online for the Summer semesters and the other half still showing that we have to go to the school?

Help, please! ?

Hi ? good luck getting in! I was really disappointed when I was waitlisted, but when I interviewed everyone had really strong backgrounds and spoke pretty well, so it seems like tough competition.

My BA GPA was 3.94 and my pre-req GPA is 4.0. I worked in pharmaceuticals for 4 years.

I agree with everyone else saying it seems like a much more holistic approach as of last year with the new director. I think you'll still have a shot with your GPA; I'll cross my fingers for you! ?

Hey girl congratulations! I've been on the waitlist too - been patiently waiting for that phone call LOL!! Would you mind sharing some of your stats? I'm starting to lose hope and I see they've been calling quite a few people from the list, just wondering if I still have a chance! Thanks so much and congratulations! We use a group me as well if you have one of those you can be added to the group. So far we are not registered for classes because we will be told which ones to register for during orientation I believe. Red SBU scrub tops can be purchased from the book store but white scrub pants and white shoes can be purchased by you and there are no specifics about those just yet. I have also asked about clinical and was told they do not have all the information just yet and to wait for the program director to let us know what will happen with that. I have not even looked at classes yet so I don't know about that last one. This is all information that we should be getting during orientation but the group me has people in the ABP now who have been answering our questions.

Hey guys?,

I'm new to the thread but have been checking in on it occasionally. I was accepted back in January and have been trying to keep up on all the emails they send out. If it helps, I got the email yesterday regarding registering for classes. I’ve been successful at registering for all listed Summer courses however I noticed that half said “online” and the other half had room numbers. I emailed one of the staff members and she confirmed that we will be required to be on campus for a lab course as well as clinicals ?. I'm trying to find ways to be in contact with other students who are also starting this Summer. I dont have facebook but I’ll likely make one to stay in the loop. Does anyone know how I can be added to the GroupMe?

Also, I dont live in Long Island, I live in the NYC area. Is anyone else in a situation where traveling to campus is an obstacle? I dont think they’re doing Summer housing and they have new restrictions for the fall where there is no guarantee that ABSN students will be given housing since we’re considered “new transfer students”. Does anyone know of any other housing options? Thanks!

Hi! You should join the GroupMe! Send me a pm and I can send you the link. Several of us are looking into off campus apartments and I have some leads I could share with you as well.
