Stony Brook's ABSN Class of 2023

Hi everyone! I am applying to Stony Brook's ABSN and wanted to create this thread for anyone who wanted to share stats, updates or need assistance!

I applied to Adelphi too and have yet to hear from them about interviews too.

okay that makes me feel better! my friend from last year had heard in November. I was told by Adelphi to expect to hear in December or January about invitations

They told me results usually would come 3-4 weeks after the deadline. Hopefully we hear back this month soon!

Hey! So I never got an interview from SBU and I emailed them and this is the email I got back. 

"The interviews have been held for the Accelerated Program.  Your application was not chosen for an interview at this time.  The Admissions Committee carefully reviews all applications for this program. Although, interviews can be held at any time before the start of the program.  Thank you for your interest in our program."

So just wanted to put that out there in case people were still wondering! I recommend emailing them to see where they are at, because to me it seems like a no for me!

It sounds like they’re giving false hope to people who didn’t receive an interview but I personally would consider other schools and view stony as a rejection. Only because of past years, the only applicants that were part of the cohort were always interviewed in advance. 
They told us in the interview that only 160 applicants were selected for interviews and then out of the 160 only 80 are actually selected to be part of the program. Some are waitlisted. 
 

I can’t imagine them doing interviews anytime in the future again.

Oh, 110% agree with you!! I would rather have a rejection right now. I knew from the beginning and reading old threads that if you didn't get an original interview, you were never going to get one. My guess is of the people they interview, whoever they don't accept right away, just turns into the waitlist, and that's that. No other interviews get sent out because they already have a waitlist of interviewed applicants.

Yeah that’s basically what happens so I’m not sure why the made the email sound that way but who knows. Maybe they overlook all the applications again and really do interview a few people at any point? No idea. Either way I wish you the best ! We’ll all become nurses one way or another

Yeah, I'm not sure! I have other acceptances so I am grateful and it's okay it isn't Stony Brook, not meant to be. I wish you the best as well!

Yep, kind of pissed off. I had emailed them a few weeks ago regarding my application (I did not get an interview but others had) and they told me that my application was still under review. I just want to know. I hate how ambiguous they have been.
