Hi everyone! I am applying to Stony Brook's ABSN and wanted to create this thread for anyone who wanted to share stats, updates or need assistance!
Hey everyone! So I did my interview on Monday and I think that I’m going to apply for the 2 year as well just in case I don’t get accepted into the program. Does anyone know if there’s a way to transfer the application to the other program? I really don’t want to ask my profs for letters of recommendations again if I don’t have to.
Also, do we think applying to the 2 year program could affect our chances of getting into the ABSN, or am I being paranoid?

When you start a new application using your original account, a lot of the stuff from your old one will already be populated, like my basic info and transcripts are there. You do need to reupload your essay, upload prereqs, and ask letter writers to upload their letters. It's essentially the same app though - so I'm just gonna ask my writers to upload the same letter as long as they still have it saved. I do wish I had asked them in the first place instead of giving them an extra task to do now.
I don't know if it would affect your chances...do you think it's the same faculty reviewing apps? The timing is kinda weird, it's due before acceptances for ABSN, but then if they have the same reviewers, and are going to let you into ABSN, I guess the BSN app was a waste and they probably won't even offer it to you? I really don't know if anyone ever gets interviews/offers to both? I sort of feel like they'd offer who they think the stronger students the ABSN since it's more condensed and challenging.

Ugh I know. In hindsight I wish I asked them to save it as well. Guess I’ll be sending those emails out soon!!
I wish we could find out before the BSN applications are due. I’m nervous they’ll look at it like I am willing to do the 2 year so they can offer the ABSN to someone who applied specifically for that? I’ve been overthinking since the interview so I’m sure that’s not the case here but who knows.

Hi! So I actually applied to both programs last year so I did a little digging cause I had the same questions. Apparently they don't even start reviewing the 2 year applications until after decisions go out about the 1 year program, so it shouldn't affect your chances of getting into the 1 year!

Oooh, amazing!! Hate having to request LORs again, but I’ll definitely regret it if I don’t get into the program. THANK YOU!

Oh man. In that case, I really wish they would just make the BSN app due date after they send out ABSN decisions so I could know if I should spend another $50 or not to apply to that one

I'm telling myself my recs have my letter saved and will do it quickly and then get busy with holidays and forget I bothered them again
