  1. I'm a student in my last semester of an Accelerated BSN and I've been vacillating on where I want to go on and apply to from here. I would love some advice on thoughts of being able to switch specialties. I have an extreme interest in Labor & Delivery, and the hospital I intend to apply to allows new students to go right into L&D after orientation. It was the area I was most drawn to, excelled in, and felt the most comfortable in, maybe because I've been through the labor process twice. I also have a strong interest in the ED, I find it fascinating and exciting and equally rewarding, but as a student I find it very overwhelming and not sure if I can hack it. The fellowship also intimidates me, I'm just not as comfortable in those departments as I was in L&D. I'd like to try my hand at L&D and get comfortable nursing first, but is it very difficult to switch out of that kind of specialty? What if I decide L&D is not for me? Am I pigeonholing myself by starting in a specialty? I've had so many mixed answers. Thank you for any and all advice!!
  2. No I never spoke with someone directly, I was just going off of the info I saw on the facebook group, there was a post about this on there. I wish I had more information!
  3. I believe classes start June 6th, and orientation a few days before that. I’m guessing we find out what classes we are taking during orientation?
  4. I sent in my transcripts. If you go on the website where you applied for the Accelerated program, you'll see an FAQ section and scroll down, there's an address listed on where transcripts need to be sent. Admissions told me we should start to receive emails with more information around mid-April. I'm guessing we learn about how to enroll in classes during orientation? I am also curious about FAFSA, I had just assumed that since it's a second Bachelor's that financial aid isn't on the table but I would love to know if anyone had any success or got any info! ETA: sorry, meant to reply to @mj452
  5. It’s an undergraduate program
  6. Congrats to those who received an interview email today! I have been accepted into the Accelerated program, but sadly I wasn't invited for an interview for the Basic BSN (which was my first choice). I'd say go for the interview! Keep all of your options open, there's still some time to decide what's the best fit for you.
  7. I believe it’s somewhere around $15k for the full year, plus additional costs for books, equipment, etc….but don’t quote me on that Does anyone happen to know around when orientation would be?
  8. Thank you, it was very informative!
  9. Hi again all, does anyone happen to know what a typical schedule is for the year? I found a thread with some good information but it was posted in 2016 so I'm not sure how relevant it is. I'm also so curious as to how much/if any classes will be virtual, being that it could potentially save a good chunk of time every day.
  10. I inquired about what to do since I was waiting on word about the 2 year, and they said to accept the seat in the Accelerated since they’re still reviewing applications for the 2 year. There was no mention of them scratching the 2 year application. I’m under the impression that it still goes through as it normally would. I imagine they know some people might have a preference of the 2 year over the 1 year and would have to accept the 1 year for now since that deadline is first? Anyone else have any insight into this?
  11. Mom here as well! I have 2 preschoolers. I’m about a half hour from SB though, but definitely concerned since clinicals can be anywhere. This will be a wild ride. Still weighing out my options because I also applied to the Basic Baccalaureate 2 year program. Anyone else accepted to Accelerated that is also waiting on the 2 year?
  12. Does anyone know exactly how long we have to accept admission? I emailed ------------------- a question (my first choice is the 2 year program and I wanted to make sure I'm doing the right thing by accepting 1 year, pending the 2 year), and I'm waiting to hear back from her but I don't want to miss my window!
  13. I got my acceptance letter as well! Congrats to all that got accepted!!
  14. I believe they said 6-8 weeks so I wouldn't expect SB to reach out to applicants until the end of January/beginning of February
