Oh wow that’s annoying.. do you or anyone else know when the deadline is to apply for FASFA/ tap?

Never looked into the portal so IDK. I only checked when I received an email about a status update. However Pace did email me yesterday finally withdrawing my seat since I chose not to go with them, so they probably will be sending a 2nd round of acceptances soon.

I actually live 2 blocks from Pace, but the tuition is the biggest reason. Although I’ll be renting a room near Stony Brook it’ll still be more affordable for me than attending Pace. I plan on pursuing a masters to do psych NP so I don’t want any debt from undergrad programs, hopefully not graduate programs either. There are a few other reasons but I don’t want my decision deterring anyone from Pace. You can email me if you’d like to know more in depth [email protected]

Your career aspirations were originally to be an FNP. Hence why you pursued that route. But because you seem to believe finding a job in that field is “ a dime in a dozen” you went for psych. And I was accepted into every accelerated nursing program I applied to ? Did my research on psych NP for years & decided to pursue this the traditional long term way opposed to doing a direct entry program. Because I actually care about this field & know it’s exactly what I want. your # of years in the field are irrelevant. Do you know how many terrible veteran nurses/doctors/ professionals there are? & if my words truly meant nothing, you wouldn’t have cared to even respond to this old thread which I found because I’m continuously doing research on psych NP. And yes it absolutely bothers me when I see FNP’s or anyone going into psych for the wrong reasons, and I’ll always comment on that. If you aren’t, then this is all irrelevant to you. If you have genuine interest to help then awesome ! That’s all that matters. (But your initial posts would leave anyone to believe otherwise, which is why you shouldn’t be so defensive ) Now I will unsubscribe from this forum so we can both enjoy the remainder of this day!

Would not want to be your patient, seems like I triggered a nerve LOL. As a psych NP ( or any type of health care professional) you should definitely learn to handle any type of critique. you said psych is unavoidable in healthcare. This is obviously not true. Yes psych is everywhere but do you understand how many fields there are in healthcare which require absolutely 0 psych knowledge? Now you’re saying it’s unavoidable because psych patients have medical issues? Yeah obviously. But that doesn’t mean every patient who goes to see their derm or OBGYN is there to discuss anything psych related. Have a nice day ! ?

It’s really not unavoidable though.. at all. & you said yourself you’re only going for psych post graduate to get a job, not due to interest which leads others to make that fair assumption.

So basically you’re only gonna do psych cause you can’t get a job as an FNP. Why not allow people who actually love psych and want to work in that field that job, instead of FNP’s saturating the psych field now

Forgot to mention, but I had applied for the program early January 2022.

Tbh if your undergrad GPA is competitive, that’ll compensate for not having medical experience. btw I also am planning to become a PMHNP

3.6 undergrad GPA All A’s except one B for prerequisites I was a direct support professional for a year. Volunteered in a dental clinic for some time..I think my personal statement essay was strong which prob helped me & I had 3 very supportive recommendations which likely helped too. to be honest I was also really nervous a week ago so I know how you feel. It’ll happen don’t worry!

Hi all, I was just accepted into Pace’s program. However I will not be accepting it because I’m going to attend Stony Brook instead. It seems pace is doing rolling admissions ? But this allows another applicant a spot. Good luck!

Currently in the same dilemma.. I live an hour away by car so it isn’t too horrible but I also think I would rather save those 2 hours to study and live closer to campus. Need to think more about this

They extended it last year too. They haven’t even interviewed anyone yet, so they’re prob just delayed with everything.

Yeah the deadlines changed to feb 28. They extended it last year too till April 1st. I don’t think I will be applying though because I was accepted to stony and they start in June..
