  1. Hi all! I just graduated from the ABSN program this month and commuted from Sunnyside, Queens. If anyone has any questions feel free to email me. I also have Small sized scrub tops for anyone interested in buying them before the program starts and don't wanna take the trip to Stony. (biancarod112 @ outlook)
  2. I would double check that the offer is still valid. SOLAR mentioned submitting an acceptance within 10 days of receiving the acceptance, which I’m assuming would be January 25th, so by February 3rd
  3. I will be commuting. However I’ll have a car. If you’re taking the train wouldn’t recommend it. From queens, to get to school alone is 2-3 hours. The hospitals where clinical are held can be 3+ hour train rides
  4. That was such an informative response, I appreciate it @jc_nurse ! If you don’t mind I actually had a few other questions. I was checking online and couldn’t find much info about classes offered in the Summer. Do you mind mentioning how the classes were divided between each semester? Also, I’d like to start reading up on pharm and patho so would it be possible to ask for syllabi for both classes? Thanks so much again for taking the time to help us newbies out.
  5. I just paid for both. They’re actually refundable if you notify the school by a certain date.
  6. Hi all. I was able to finally make my payment, you can try now if you'd like
  7. I am in a similar situation. I got into Phillips school of nursing at Mt. sinai and the only thing I’m worried about is the commute. Luckily I will have access to a car, and I know one other student will consider commuting as well. I wouldn’t mind car pooling if anyone needs a hand. I’m mostly attracted to SBUs tuition costs (being 1/3 the cost of PSON) and the “struggle” will only be for a year. I’m not so familiar with Pace’s statistics but I know SBUs have above 90% NCLEX pass rates and they mention providing plenty of student support which I’m worried I won’t get at mt sinai. nonetheless I wish you all luck!
  8. Hi @nursebsn818 did you get into both pace and sbu? If so, what’s your reason for choosing pace?
  9. This was extremely insightful. Thanks so much for taking the time to help me. If you don't mind me asking, how has nursing been for you since graduating? Was it easy for you to find employment and are you satisfied with your salary? Do you think attending another school might have helped you at all in any way?
  10. Hi all. I know most of you must have already completed your ABSN at SBU so I'm hoping you can help provide some insight. I have been newly accepted and would like information from first hand sources. -Were classes held in person or online? What was the class schedule like? -How often were clinicals and where were they held? How far east on the island could one end up having to commute? Did anyone commute from Queens? Thanks in advance for any advise. I'm torn between 2 schools at the moment and would appreciate any info.
  11. Hello everyone! Newly accepted ABSN student here. I was hoping those of you who have been accepted and in the program for some time now can help me answer some questions. - I would be commuting from queens for about an hour and change, has anyone done this successfully? - how much of the program is online VS in person? - Where are clinical held? How far into Long Island can they be? And how many days a week? - How would you rate the program from 1-10? A single person doesn’t have to answer all questions but I would love as much info as I can. Thank you so much!
  12. Hi! Do you mind if I ask how you’re liking the program so far? I’ve just paid my deposit and am wondering how you’d rate your experience on a scale of 1-10. Id really appreciate it!
  13. Actually just received my acceptance as well! To answer your questions @Aljoe I have absolutely no medical experience so that was one of my worries. But I attended an info session and they said they take a holistic approach to acceptances and medical experience wasn’t completely necessary. I guess if your grades aren’t so competitive then in that case medical experience would’ve boosted an application. My grades for pre reqs are listed above, I completed my bachelors this fall with an overall GPA of 3.97
  14. Oh OK I see. I was just emailing Tuan yesterday, also updating my transcripts. I haven't received anything as of yet. But maybe that means I should be getting some kind of response soon. Congrats again!
  15. Congrats @dines! I'm happy for you. When did you receive it and was it by email?
