Stony Brook Nursing Basic BSN Fall 2013 applicants

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hey guys! So I just applied to the SBU Basic (2 year) program a couple of days ago. I thought it would be nice to start a forum. Feel free to ask any questions! And good luck to all who are applying!!!

Positive thoughts lead to positive results! Stay positive! :)

Ozzy,

I'm also applying to Medgar Evers program and I need to take the NLN for that. I'm basically covering all basis, to get into a program this fall even if it means applying to an AAS.

Evadney,

I'm applying to all programs as well. I'm currently studying for NLN and the TEAS exams. But I'm taking the NLN for York college and Farmingdale. I've applied to Associate programs as well! Goodluck!

I have to take the TEAS for CNR, but I'm not going to start studying for that until after the NLN. CNR just sent a letter out saying they require the TEAS. Good Luck to you as well!!

How we know when the result come out? Are they sending email? I checked solar but nothing going on.

We will not know until the spring time. So you will see nothing on Solar regarding a decision until then!

Hey everyone, how did everyone do if you heard back on getting accepted?

I'm actually going to apply to SBU for Spring '14 admission -after I get all my pre-reqs out of the way :)

I'm not going to be a part of your class, but I'd love to stay in the loop! If you're already a student, what do you think? Any recommendations to the newbs and hopefuls of SBU Nursing?

To everyone who is in the program, congrats! To those who are waiting on news, good luck!

At work this evening (at SBUH) the nursing students came to my unit for their clinicals. I was so excited to see them and even more excited when they asked me for direction and help. Makes me so happy to know that when I am in nursing school, I will have such an advantage already having worked as a CNA.

So January is officially over. Only 3 or 4 more months of waiting! ;)

Well, I'll apply for Spring admission if they even OFFER Spring admission! By the looks of it SBU does not, but hopefully I'll hear back from the program coordinator soon enough to have a plan- it's my dream school

Sarolany, they do not have spring admission at the school of nursing.

Thanks, Kris10Noel!

Looks like I'll just have to apply for Fall 2014. That way I guess the plus side is that I don't have to do a summer term for prerequisites!

Hi Ozzy84,

I've applied to Stony Brook's 1 yr program and wasnt' accepted. I also applied to their 2 yr program, Pace, Drexel (in Philly) and in the process of completing my application for NYU. If i dont get into any of the school in NY, I will be going to Drexel, they've accepted me for their 1 yr accelerated program.

@Ozzy84 don't go to , pace or nyu. The tuition to go there is insane 30k - 40k per year. If you don't get into a 4 yr state school apply to a 2 yr com col... where tuition will only be 3k-4k a year. I got into NYU, Drexel, and Emory... it's not worth it + I had to pay extra for housing. And they give **** aid for nursing, cause everyone wants to be a nurse. I opted to go to my local com col program after not getting into stony last year.

The only thing about the getting an ASN/ADN is that I probably won't be able to find a job in NY right away, however I am not to go to another state where the jobs are. And ASN/ADNs make $1 less than BSNs when it comes to hourly pay.

I again applied to SBU for Fall 2013... however I am indifferent if I get in or not.

Oh Yeah, drexel requires you to score an 88% on the exit HESI exam. And if you can't get and 88% or higher you can't graduate. Also drexel is on this weird trimester system and all the kids are weird. Don't go.
