  1. I went to the School of Nursing today and they said we would find out either the end of this week or the beginning of next week.
  2. I went to the School of Nursing today and was able to talk to one of the admissions committee members. She said they are just finalizing everything, but I believe they have picked out the majority of the people who they want. She said they will send us the emails by mid-late April. This wait is killing me!!
  3. they have 82 seats for this year
  4. I emailed the School of Nursing and they stated that we would find out at the end of March/early April. So nervous!! But good luck to all who applied! :)
  5. Corrine611: Hey! Sorry about not getting into the one year program but best of luck with the 2 year program! And yes, I can't stand the waiting time either. I wish they would tell us earlier than May.
  6. ash6117: it's probably taking a little longer since the application deadline was Jan 7 and many people probably applied...it takes them a little while to look at all the paperwork...i would just wait a couple of more days. if not, you can always email or call them
  7. The Meet and Greet was done for the first time and it was hosted by the Pre-Nursing Society at Stony Brook. I believe only the people who were in the club got notified (via FB or during the club's meeting).
  8. Did anyone go to the Meet n Greet that was put on by the School of Nursing? If so, what did you think of it?
  9. Hey Yourstruly_dm!! Good luck! Is this the first time that you are applying? Did you apply to any other schools?
  10. Hey guys! So I just applied to the SBU Basic (2 year) program a couple of days ago. I thought it would be nice to start a forum. Feel free to ask any questions! And good luck to all who are applying!!!
  11. @ Paco69: Thank you soo much! I just heard that one of my friends got in this year. So maybe I have a chance! I am going to start writing my personal statement this summer and get it read and proofed by some people. Is it the same topic each year? I looked up the question on this year's application and it asked about why do you want to be a nurse and something else. Once again, thanks for responding back!
  12. Hey guys! So this is like the second time that I am posting on this website. But I have read through other people's post and found it really helpful. I am applying to the school of nursing at Stony Brook University next fall. I currently have a 3.38 GPA (yea, I know its a little low) and I have a good amount of extracurricular activities. I also volunteer at the Stony Brook Hospital and the long Island Veterans Home as much as I can. I have about 150 hours in and I plan on volunteering at a local hospital near my home throughout the summer. I also work on campus throughout the semesters. Do you think this is good enough that maybe I can get in the first around? If not, what do you suggest that I improve (besides the GPA, I'm working on that)? Also, any other information will be helpful!!! I really want to get into SBU!!!! P.S. can you also suggest other schools that I should apply to in NY? I have looked at Adelphi and Hunter. Actually, I am an out-of-state student. I do plan on applying in my state but I would really love to stay in New York and mostly at SBU!! But you know, I should have backups too.
