Stony Brook Nursing Basic BSN Fall 2013 applicants
I went to the School of Nursing today and was able to talk to one of the admissions committee members. She said they are just finalizing everything, but I believe they have picked out the majority of the people who they want. She said they will send us the emails by mid-late April. This wait is killing me!!

Corrine611: Hey! Sorry about not getting into the one year program but best of luck with the 2 year program! And yes, I can't stand the waiting time either. I wish they would tell us earlier than May.

ash6117: it's probably taking a little longer since the application deadline was Jan 7 and many people probably applied...it takes them a little while to look at all the paperwork...i would just wait a couple of more days. if not, you can always email or call them

Stony Brook Nursing Basic BSN Fall 2013 applicants
The Meet and Greet was done for the first time and it was hosted by the Pre-Nursing Society at Stony Brook. I believe only the people who were in the club got notified (via FB or during the club's meeting).

Stony Brook University-Recommendations??
@ Paco69: Thank you soo much! I just heard that one of my friends got in this year. So maybe I have a chance! I am going to start writing my personal statement this summer and get it read and proofed by some people. Is it the same topic each year? I looked up the question on this year's application and it asked about why do you want to be a nurse and something else. Once again, thanks for responding back!

Stony Brook University-Recommendations??
Hey guys! So this is like the second time that I am posting on this website. But I have read through other people's post and found it really helpful. I am applying to the school of nursing at Stony Brook University next fall. I currently have a 3.38 GPA (yea, I know its a little low) and I have a good amount of extracurricular activities. I also volunteer at the Stony Brook Hospital and the long Island Veterans Home as much as I can. I have about 150 hours in and I plan on volunteering at a local hospital near my home throughout the summer. I also work on campus throughout the semesters. Do you think this is good enough that maybe I can get in the first around? If not, what do you suggest that I improve (besides the GPA, I'm working on that)? Also, any other information will be helpful!!! I really want to get into SBU!!!! P.S. can you also suggest other schools that I should apply to in NY? I have looked at Adelphi and Hunter. Actually, I am an out-of-state student. I do plan on applying in my state but I would really love to stay in New York and mostly at SBU!! But you know, I should have backups too.

Suggestions?
Thank you so much and I will definitely ask when needed!!! I hope everything is going great for you!

Suggestions?
Hey! Thanks so much! I found out that I have to take about 4-5 more classes and then SBU only accepts students in the fall. So, I would apply next year. I don't have to take the TEAS, but I heard some schools require the GRE (SBU doesn't though).

Suggestions?
Hey! So I currently am a sophomore at Stony Brook University. I was planning to get into pre-med but it looks like my chances are slim. So, I plan to get into nursing school at Stony Brook. I have to take two semesters more of classes, but I plan on applying in Fall 2012. I heard that it is really competitive. My GPA is 3.43 and I have volunteered at the Stony Brook Hospital as well as the Long Island Veterans Home. I also currently work at a research facility in Stony Brook---the RSS. I am kind of scared, but I really want to get in the first time I applied since I basically wasted a year on taking med school classes. Can you guys provide some ideas on how to prepare myself as a good candidate? Thanks!
