Hello to all, I just received an email for the FNP interview @ Stony Brook School of Nursing. I am wondering if anyone had the interview and what kind of questions they ask during the interview? I heard it's a group interview, how does it work? Thanks in advance, any information would help, appreciated!!
I chose a suit. But I really had gotten the feeling that we were all already going to be accepted. I went and bought the suit but afterwards I felt like it wasnt necessary. My group was mixed...some suits , others just professional attire.
My group was also mixed. A few suits and some other nice outfits as well. When you say you got the feeling that you were all already going to be accepted, was that after the interview was over or when you went into the interview room? It was definitely a nice, laid back atmosphere and interview. As others said, I was nervous for nothing.
Got it. I am nervous about the transportation part because I don't have a car. Also, I am debating between a suit or a sweater/skirt combo. What do you think?
Even with a car I am nervous about transportation lol. I figured the way I took for my interview (drove the entire way straight down and for the way back took the ferry to Bridgeport, which made the driving less stressful since I could relax for at least 1 hour) would be the way I would do it. The ferry both ways is just too expensive.
I felt good leaving. I felt like I was already a part of the program. I was excited. The director of the program spoke to us like we were her students, we weren't spoken down to or intimidated. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, and I ahd a great feeling. I'm holding on to that...trying not to think about the number of applicants... until we hear something í ½í¸

I felt good leaving as well. Good vibes to everyone here! Crossing my fingers! Yes, definitely have to think positively!
Has anyone heard of getting in here without interviews? I've been lurking for awhile both last years and this years threads related to SBU's FNP program... Some had interviews while others didn't. Why is that? I applied but haven't heard a thing about an interview. I'm 6 hours away
I don't have an exact answer for this and may be wrong (and can't speak for previous years), however as far as I know and heard they choose who is admitted into the programs through the interviews. I'm also sure more get interviewed than they can accept (that's reality) as with most schools that have interviews. This year they have a huge amount of applicants for FNP (I read it here and the director said it in the interview, about 400). It's become very, very competitive. I wish you the best of luck, try to remain positive, you never know (keep checking that email)!
