Stony Brook FNP Interview

Published

Hello to all, I just received an email for the FNP interview @ Stony Brook School of Nursing. I am wondering if anyone had the interview and what kind of questions they ask during the interview? I heard it's a group interview, how does it work? Thanks in advance, any information would help, appreciated!!

How did the interviews go?! Did they give an update on when we might find out if we are accepted?

Went well, had a good time! Was told we should hear by March (I am hoping for late Feb, this waiting game is never easy). Admissions doesn't meet until February.

Okay thanks. Yeah I've been waiting since November! Not fun haha!

Hi all, The interview went well. It was a group interview just as another person in this forum mentioned. We were told the Admissions committee is meeting in February and we should find out decisions in March. Good luck to everyone!!

I have my interview scheduled for 1/27 for PMHNP track. How long was the interview? Also, did anyone go by train?

Hi A&O,

My interview lasted about an hour. Myself and 4 other candidates were all brought into a conference room at about 10am. The Director of the FNP program and her assistant came in about 5 minutes later. We were asked some basic questions about ourselves and what shaped our choices. Then they went over some particulars about the program itself and we all had the opportunity to ask any questions we liked. It was a calm, casual and pleasant experience. I was a bundle of nerves for nothing!! But isn't that always the case? We all walked out at about 11 am and there was another group of what appeared to be 5-6 people in the waiting area.

I live in NYC and had a few other things to do on Long Island so I rented a car for the day. If I did take the train from NYC I would have taken it to the Stony Brook stop and the University is literally about an 8 minute drive by taxi which are usually right there at the station. If there is no taxi in sight just call Lindy's Taxi service. They have been around forever, just google them for the local Stony Brook location's number and give yourself some extra time.

Good luck to you!!

Kim

I did A&Ox6, for January as well. Feeling nervous, but kpooe01's post has helped to ease my nerves a bit. Both excited and anxious to attend. Thanks kpope01 for all of the helpful information.

Got it. I am nervous about the transportation part because I don't have a car. Also, I am debating between a suit or a sweater/skirt combo. What do you think?
