Stony Brook FNP Interview

Nursing Students NP Students

Hello to all, I just received an email for the FNP interview @ Stony Brook School of Nursing. I am wondering if anyone had the interview and what kind of questions they ask during the interview? I heard it's a group interview, how does it work? Thanks in advance, any information would help, appreciated!!

Not sure about the credits but it's 3 semesters per year (summer fall spring) for 3 years so 9 semesters total

Hi all, starting a new thread for everyone who has been accepted to the FNP program starting this summer, 2016.

HI Ladies!

I am still working on my packet. My titres should be back tomorrow 4/13/16 or 4/17/16. I live in NYC and am driving out to Long Island Monday evening. I will also be driving back to the city Tuesday after orientation. If anyone is local to me and wants a ride let me know. I decided to drive out the night before because I want to be well rested. I am going to stay at my friends house, but am available to hard out to dinner or sometime Monday evening.

Thanks for the new thread Scrublife, I responded there as well!

Sorry if this question might answer itself, but just to make sure. Does Stony Brook have part time NP programs? Their website doesn't say anything about not having part time programs, but it doesn't say that they offer it part time either. I checked the FAQ page, and googled around, and found nothing. Congrats to all who were accepted, and to those who weren't, I read every single post, and there was one post that was rejected, and was accepted when he/she applied again, so don't lose hope. Thanks.

The FNP program is 3 years, part time, hybrid (mostly online) you go through summers as well. I believe all of the programs are like this.

We are in the first semester of the one we were accepted to, it started May 31 2016 and we graduate May 2019 at the end of the spring semester.

Summer sessions you take a 3 credit class, fall/spring are 5-8 credits. There is a little flexibility if you need to move some classes around.

And yes, for anyone who didn't get in, keep trying! I interviewed the first year I applied and did not get in, I was accepted the 2nd time. [emoji4]

Hope this info helps!

Congrats I saw this post and wanted to know can you guys answer a few questions for me? I am applying for stonybrook Adult NP and Family program for summer 2017!

1) how hard was it to get in? If you don't mind me asking what was you GPA and you grades in health assessment and statistics?

2) how was the interview and the question?

3) how many pple were accepted?

4) how are the classes so far?

Did you ever end up getting any info?! I'm applying for PMHNP summer 17 program and als wondering the same things you are!

Hi scrublife6! I noticed you said that you applied twice and you were accepted on your second time. I have a few questions and would love if you could answer them. I'm a prospective student looking to get in to the FNP program but I'm worried about being rejected. I'm new to the website so I cannot private message you. Would you be able to send me a message privately or an email I can talk to you through?

I'd appreciate it tremendously, please let me know!! Congratulations (a late one) and I hope the program is treating you well thus far!

Hi everyone. I applied for the FNP program starting in 2019 and I interview on Wednesday. I have a general question about the structure of the program. I know the program takes 3 years to complete, but how many semesters does that consist of? I read that the program begins in May... does it go year round where you do a summer semester, then fall, then spring, then repeat? Or do you have summers off with no classes? Only reason why I ask is that I am confused when the actual clinical portion of the program takes place. I emailed the school and someone told me that the clinical takes place "the last 4 semesters." What does that mean? Does that mean that the first year of the program is all online classes, and then the last two years consist of classes and clinical? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi! I had my interview today. I think the May class is not a clinical class and is only 3 credits. It's also 7-8 weeks. I think that the clinical work starts in the fall of 19 after two summer semesters? She brought up the schedule on the screen but didn't give out a copy. Also, the "pop-quiz" was terrifying! I don't think I did well on that at all. They also said that there are 300 applicants and only 60 seats available but not all 300 get an interview. Fingers crossed!
