Stony Brook FNP Interview

Published

Hello to all, I just received an email for the FNP interview @ Stony Brook School of Nursing. I am wondering if anyone had the interview and what kind of questions they ask during the interview? I heard it's a group interview, how does it work? Thanks in advance, any information would help, appreciated!!

I still haven't even heard for an interview. :(

I received my acceptance letter today as well! Congrats Kim and others! I will be declining because I already accepted a seat (and paid my deposit) into the MCPHS University distance FNP program last week, which is my first choice!! Hope this makes someone else very happy! Good luck to everyone!!!!! :)

Hey all

I applied in August (FNP 2016 May Start), interviewed in October (group interview, apparently the first group to be interviewed for this term) and have yet to hear back from anyone. When I emailed the secretary she said to me that decisions would be emailed, that is all... I am wondering if it is safe to say I didn't get in or if they really haven't finished the process, or maybe I would be placed on a waiting list, I don't know just stuck in limbo... I mean being one of the first groups to be interviewed I would think they would have made a decision, especially hearing that candidates have been chosen immediately after having been interviewed.

Any thought appreciated.

Hi beautygirl,

I think they will be accepting students into March. I say this because that is when I was told I wold hear. I was told in my interview that the admissions committee will meet in Feb and decisions will be given out in March. When the acceptance email is sent to the student we have 10 days to respond. Good luck!

Kim

Thanks kpope01, RN!

Just curious has anyone received a rejection email?

Also, did the email come directly from SBU or Nursing admissions?

Hi beauty4grl. I think it's safe to say that only a few candidates were given acceptance during the interview or very, very shortly afterward. Most seemed to have to wait a while. When I was interviewed I was told the same as Kim, that admissions was meeting in the week of Feb 15th and that we should probably expect to hear back with emailed decisions in early March (but the secretary said it could be earlier than March, just not to be alarmed if we have to wait until then), however it seems some people heard back that same week (I received my acceptance letter on Feb 18th). I am sure like in every school some people may decline their seats (for various reasons) and everyone accepted is given the 10 days to respond either way, as Kim mentioned. The email itself came from studentservices. I wouldn't get too worried right now as it's not even March yet. I hope everything works out for you!

@ Alikatz08, BSN, RN thank you!

Fingers crossed!!!

Just got the rejection email today! Really thought I was going to get in since the interview went well. Has anyone re-applied for the following semester and got in? Wondering if I should apply again for the next semester. Thanks!

Hi RNsince2010, I am so sorry to hear. I think you should definitely re-apply and also apply for more than one program. If you are going for family maybe consider applying for family and adult.

All the best,

Kim

Hey RNsince2010, sorry to hear that but definitely try again! Last year I applied and interviewed for the Summer 2015 FNP program but I was also rejected. This year I applied to Adult & Family, I was accepted to Family and just found out I was put on a waiting list for Adult. The interviewers remembered me from last year so I definitely think they take that into consideration! Good luck to you!

Thanks! Did you have to resend all your transcripts again?
