  1. I think I saw an online one from Vanderbilt, specifically for those who have FNP and just want the acute care certification to work in the hospital. It's been a while since I searched because it was all giving me a headache. I didn't start school yet but I accepted an offer from Pace University after speaking to the admissions about what they have to offer. I decided to turn down SBU because in the three years that I would take to get the FNP there, I could get the FNP and the ACNP post masters in three years at Pace. So that's my plan as of right now.
  2. Oh yeah for sure. But I meant when you are an FNP haha. I'm hoping there are 12hr shifts for FNPs out there
  3. Just a question that I have been thinking about lately since decisions should be rolling in soon...how do you guys feel about stepping away from the RN schedule you have now? Working three days a week and all
  4. Hey Chris, although I can't help, I'm also looking into ACNP Post-Masters programs so that as an FNP I could work in the hospital. I'm awaiting responses from FNP programs right now though (Stony Brook being one of them). I've been frustrated too because of the limitations in NY. If I find anything I'll post here. But I'll be following..
  5. This is nuts. What's taking so long? Usually they send out decisions by early February according to the current students I've spoken to. Has anyone called?
  6. Hi Dr. Beth, can a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner work both inpatient and outpatients?
  7. Hi Dr. Beth, can a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner work both inpatient and outpatient?
  8. I second Maynard44, it was very casual. The director of the program and the professors that were also there were so pleasant and my nerves disappeared! How did your interviews go?
  9. Hey yourstruly_dm, yes I actually did end up applying. I have an interview scheduled with them next week. I'm excited. If you don't mind me asking, does she remember what the interview was like?
  10. Hi everyone. I am an RN working in a hematology/oncology unit and have been thinking about applying to the Stony Brook University's FNP program. I've had my heart set on this and after a bit of soul searching, I am confident that this is the program that fits my aspirations and my career goals best. I just want some advice on applying: At the moment I have 8 months of experience but I will have the required 1 year (and a few months) by the time the deadline comes around. If accepted, I would just be 2 months short of two years experience before beginning any classes at all, since the program starts in Summer 2018. I also have a GPA of 3.495 and plan to get recommendations from my nurse manager, a professor from nursing school, and a colleague who is a nurse practitioner (DNP). All who can speak on my work ethic as well as my academic performance and dedication. I've spoken to several colleagues about the program and the course work. I also took a look at the syllabi for each class. I feel ready to apply and ready to get back in school and work towards my degree. I suppose what I am asking is, with the stats I provide, will I have a great shot at getting accepted? I plan to apply to more than one school but Stony Brook has my heart. Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Hi Zlife, did you get in to the program? I'm a prospective candidate just trying to educate myself more on the program before applying (hopefully soon). Looking forward to your reply!
  12. Hi scrublife6! I noticed you said that you applied twice and you were accepted on your second time. I have a few questions and would love if you could answer them. I'm a prospective student looking to get in to the FNP program but I'm worried about being rejected. I'm new to the website so I cannot private message you. Would you be able to send me a message privately or an email I can talk to you through? I'd appreciate it tremendously, please let me know!! Congratulations (a late one) and I hope the program is treating you well thus far!
