Stony Brook BSN - Summer/Fall 2011 Applicants

ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... :D ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ... :(

but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).

anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?

i'm hoping we hear something this week...

i completed my last prereq at Stony Brook (i also received my bachelor's from SB) this past fall semester. After I received my grade, I sent the admissions office an email asking if I should send my updated transcript to them. They advised that I should send my unofficial transcript as soon as possible (since the class was taken at Stony Brook, you do not have to send official transcripts, as they can access them through SOLAR). I did that, but my application credentials haven't changed. That is, it still registers that my official transcript was received back in October, right after I submitted my application, and that they have not accessed my updated transcript since.

That kind of makes me think they have already made their admissions decisions and are just making us wait for some reason we can't seem to figure out.

oh well, i hope this week brings good news to us all! :D

I hope we find out very soon as well!! I'm getting more and more anxious to find out what my year holds and where I may or may not be living!!! :confused:

is anyone else going as CRAZY as i am waiting for a decision?? :eek::eek: i feel like ive been waiting for years!! and im checking solar approx 5 times a day, its gotten out of control..has anyone called SB recently or have any idea when they start sending out letters?

i'll say! you need serious help, my friend! lol ... 5 times a day? i have not checked in like a week, and before that i checked in nov! word is (and i know i am opening pandora's box of sorts here) that things are happening @ jan 21 and letters go out in feb. we shall see. i know the wait is bad, but they are coming. i went through this madness a year ago, convinced myself i am not going to do it again and so far so good :up:

come to think about it, i don't think i will even visit this thread on jan 21 :D ... but i must admit that's harder to do than checking solar!

I sent in my transcripts from last semester at the beginning of January and they just updated my SOLAR saying that they were received on Jan 14th (friday) so I don't think it means that they've made a decision already I just think it takes them a bit to process it.

This is probably going to be the slowest week ever! I am going to work hard to distract myself from checking SOLAR every 10 seconds! lol

Hi everyone,

I just got into Chemistry 131 at Nassau Community College, as I am hoping to transfer this class to Stony Brook next year. I just wanted to verify that it is, in fact, a prerequisite for the 12-month accelerated program (as Chemistry I). I was wait listed about a week ago, so I'm excited to have gotten in. Thanks for your help!

Fax them an unofficial copy! That's the best thing I did when one of mine was missing last Nov. Then I sent the official one and all was well.

Congratulations! I think .... :uhoh3: ... are you talking about SBU or Nassau CC? You already heard something? How? You must have gotten a letter, you would not have found this out through SOLAR, at least I did not last year unless things have changed since then. Hopefully you will clarify so everyone else does not freak out unnecessarily. :D

To answer your questions, yes ... Chemistry I is a prereq.

Ohhh I am sorry to have not clarified exactly what I meant!

I haven't even applied to SBU yet. I was wait-listed to get into Chemistry 131 at Nassau. I'm going to take all the prereqs that I do not yet have at Nassau (simply because I live much closer to NCC) and then apply to Stony Brook next year. I just wanted to be sure that Chem 131 could be transferred to SBU!

SORRY GUYS! I realize how nerve-wracking this is for all, and I surely don't want to contribute to that :p

I really hope to hear something soon! I was ok waiting until this point, but everyday that passes now seems like forever! I have to figure out plan B if this doesn't work out, but not even sure what that would be!! :confused

I really hope there is some news starting at least end of this week- the info posted by someone else that the date had moved to Feb is killing me!

Hope this will be all of us soon!
