ok, it's never too early to start a thread about applying for 2011 ... ... which i am most definitely doing even though i am still waitlisted for 2010. i just won't be able to attend this year if i get in ...
but that's ok! i'll be done with all my prereqs and have time to write a better application (if in fact that is at all possible, you know?).
anyone else applying to stony brook for summer 2011?
Hey,
Thank you so much for replying to my concern, that was so nice of you. I got a rejection letter from UAB yesterday, so I decided to mail in the deposit today just to fulfill all righteousness, while awaiting the SUB decision. It seems to me the accelerated program is more competitive than I ever imagine. As for Quinnpiac University, I had all the prerequisite completed, but with UAB, I have Developmental Psychology and Nutrition outstanding, which I took this semester though. Also I had a rejection letter from NYU, and my guesses are that its blc of the outstanding Psych and Nutrition also. More so, NYU is starting in January, so i guess they would prefer those with completed prerequisite. Otherwise I have know idea why the rejection from the 2 school, despite having a solid health care background and also I just completed a Masters degree in Molecular & cell Biology, with a GPA 3.64, May 2010.
Well, my advice to future applicants into this program is to get all prerequisite ready, prior to applying. I belief you will stand a better chance.
I wish you good luck into SUB, its also my first choice.
Sorry, I really couldn't figure out how to get your original message in, am still trying to familiarize myself with the thread
lol I submitted my two-year application too so i have to check solar lol but i just checked my email and they sent us an email saying that the supporting documents for accelerated applications are under review and it may take up to Jan 21st. I saw my official transcript was changed to NOT RECIEVED most likely because they dont have my grade for this past semester... im gonna go give them my unofficial ones now cuz my grades just came out and the holiday and stuff they need some time to process...

I never received such an email, was SBU replying to you directly in response to an email you sent them? I haven't known them to mass email candidates in the past that I can recall.

hmm thats strange, i didnt really send them any email... but now that I'm reading it again, it might be because i rencently submitted another application for the 2-yr program... but anyways, i copied it so you can read it too lol
"This is to inform you that due to a high volume of applications received recently, it may take several days for all your documents to show on the "Supporting Document Status Summary" as having been received by our office.
Please continue to check the system periodically as our office is assiduously processing applications. We expect to complete all work by January 21st, so please email our office after this date regarding any concerns.
NOTE to dual applicants (students applying to both the Accelerated and Basic Baccalaureate programs): Accelerated program applications are now under review with documents previously noted as "Received" in SOLAR. However, SOLAR may eliminate information on your Accelerated program document screen upon submission of your new application. We expect reconciliation of both program applications by January 21st, and request that you check SOLAR again at that time."
Thanks dr3amygirl for reposting the email. Could be due to your applying to both programs. In hindsight, I should have applied to the 2-year as well but not going to worry about it anymore, what's done is done. I really do want to do the accelerated, it will be over in a year, I would probably be too impatient to be in school one more year than I need to be (notwithstanding the fact that I will also be doing grad school sometime in the future).
Does anyone have any insight into living off-campus or on-campus? I am quite comfortable living out of a cozy single room for a year -- but of course I refuse to live with hardcore first time undergrads. Been there, done that, and I'd like to leave my fraternity days behind, thank you!
how long did it take to get your solar logins? i submitted my application for the 2-yr program on sunday the 2nd. i went to sb today and dropped off my final transcript, and the girl at the desk said it could take up to two weeks!! my email said up to one week. i'm just nervous that the school won't have all of my paperwork.

By posting, you just joined the thread my friend :) ... welcome!
I am only familiar with Quinnipiac Law School which one of my friends attended. Yes, wildly expensive school. Don't expect a decision from SBU until at earliest mid-Jan. So you will have to make a decision. You can either pay the deposit with the security of knowing you're going somewhere OR see if you can get an extension of the deadline. Explain that you're waiting to hear from a couple of more schools. That might work.
As for SOLAR, don't worry about that message if everything listed is RECEIVED. I don't think that message disappears if everything is complete. I had that message as well and everything I was supposed to submit is received. You almost made me login and check until I had remembered that I printed the page out last time I was in there in Nov. I vowed not to check SOLAR until mid-Jan or until someone here starts wildly ranting that they heard something ...
Good luck to you! The more the merrier in waiting for decisions!!!
