Stony Brook ABSN Class of 2022

Published

Stony Brook School of Nursing has recently opened the undergraduate application portal for the 2021 school year. I was part of an allnurses thread for their Basic BSN program last year, and the information and support from other applicants was amazing; so I jumped on creating a thread for this cycle as soon as applications became available.

Any questions or even just casual discussion about the program is more than welcome! Can’t wait to talk to all of you. ?

Hi everyone!

Hope you're all doing well - does anyone know if Stony will be sending out another round of interview invites?

Somebody in this thread mentioned they send out more than one wave of interviews. I'm not 100% sure though

did they end up sending a second wave?

I haven't heard anything yet and we're pretty getting close to January for there to be a second wave at this point. I'm pretty sure I didn't get accepted which is fine since I got accepted to a direct entry MSN program which was my top choice anyways.

Yeah, I came to this conclusion, I've gotten acceptance to other programs but wanted stony brook as an option because it was closer to home. But quick question have they accepted anyone directly without the need for an interview?

I haven’t and I don’t think they did. Based off previous forums it seems they follow the same pattern annually. I’m disappointed in the lack of communication.. oddly, it would have been nice to receive a rejection letter/email LOL

I know it's late, but I applied as well and haven't heard anything. I live on LI, does anyone know any other schools with similar requirements to SBU? I'd like somewhere close to home. Any options would be helpful! Thanks friends!

I sent them an email couple days ago telling them I have been accepted into another program and to disregard my application, lmao

I know NYC is pretty far from LI depending on what part of the island you live on but downstate medical center in Brooklyn has a second degree BSN program as well. I believe they are still accepting applications until January but they are a SUNY school so tuition is the same. The program is 15 months rather than Stonybrooks 12 month program. It might be worth looking into for you.

@Omgbeck_123 hello, glad you have a seat secured somewhere else... did you have an interview with SB?

Have you checked out Molloy? Molloy does rolling admissions - I believe they accept applicants until their cohort is full. However, they require the TEAS exam.

Adelphi is another school!
