Stony Brook School of Nursing has recently opened the undergraduate application portal for the 2021 school year. I was part of an allnurses thread for their Basic BSN program last year, and the information and support from other applicants was amazing; so I jumped on creating a thread for this cycle as soon as applications became available.
Any questions or even just casual discussion about the program is more than welcome! Can’t wait to talk to all of you. ?

Nothing yet. I don’t understand why they take so long to get back to us. I’m 90% sure I’m going to another school

Not yet, for me anyway. My group was told they’d send us decisions by Christmas, or first week of January by the latest.

I am going to submit an application this week for the basic BSN program. I didn't want to do it to soon because I didn't want them to see both of my applications and figure to just put me in the two year program LOL. I really hope I get into the accelerated program but the basic BSN is definitely a good alternative.

I’m going to apply to that program as well. Hopefully will have better luck with that application haha ?

Sure thing, to be honest my stats are nothing crazy. My over all GPA is 3.4 but my prerequisite GPA is 4.0 (which I believe is what helped the most). I also have some work experience with old people and caring for disabled adults that I included on the app and in my personal statement. BUT you should apply to the basic BSN program! The application is set up the exact same way as this one and the deadline is January 7th or something like that! Yes, its a 2 year program but I say its worth it. Good Luck!

My GPA is 3.8 but I majored in an unrelated social science. I think I had one B in my prereqs and I have two prereqs I am still taking, but otherwise I have A's. A big part I think for me is my work experience as a medical assistant, some volunteer work and other small certifications (like getting your BLS or join a career workshop). I really worked on my resume and the essays to highlight this.

My overall GPA is 3.8. I got all A's in my prereqs. I applied without having Microbiology completed; I just finished the class a few days ago. I have no medical experience and previously went to school for graphic design. I was very shocked I got an interview to be honest, LOL. Seems they really take grades into account.
