I'm just wondering what you all can recommend to buy in advance of starting school? I've got scrubs on my list (school allows you to buy your own!), shoes, stethoscope, paper/pens etc...
Anything else I can buy up front?

Judging from what I've seen on other posts in this forum, I've bought lots of index cards, a hole punch, and an index card binder.. highlighters, and lots of binders! Oh yes.. an accordian file to stay organized.. uhmm.. it's around here somewhere!

scissors I have always favored the ones that can cut anything, but do not have a sharp tip. Love the ones that Key Surgical makes. Actually even keep two pairs in my kitchen for food. One for cutting meats, and one for other fruits and vegetables. Get a few pairs.................And they are actually quite cheap..........................

Yes, scissors were on our "to buy" list also. Also was a watch with a second hand, Kelly clamp, nursing shoes, etc.
For study supplies, I'm considering a laptop and PDA. I have to travel an hour each way, and if the weather gets bad (snow, etc.), I will stay with a friend of mine who lives near the school. With a laptop, I'll be able to complete homework and stuff.
I agree with above though - I LOVE my 3-hole punch!! LOL

A few suggestions:
Penlight
Pen-on-a rope (wear it around your neck and you won't loose your pen at clinical)
Extra gloves (the ones they give you in school are usually too big)
Clipboard
Careplan book

I'm stocking up on everything - not just school supplies, but household stuff too (soap, paper plates, whatever! That way - when I'm broke and have left my job - maybe it won't be such a financial stretch! :)
