Hello everyone! I jsut wanted some feedback on this because it has been awhile since I've been in school. I start the LPN-RN Bridge program in November and I wasn't sure if there were things I should stock up on before the program starts? My hours will drop down to 24hours a week and I would like if there's a such thing to be prepared before it starts. Any suggestions would be great!
Yep, DVR your favorite show so that you can take a break when you feel overwhelmed.
A crockpot (I have 4 kids so it is a true lifesaver for me!)and some good quick recipes for when you feel "brain dead" at the end of a long day. Just walking in the door and smelling something good cooking is a comfort for me some days.
A couple of good nclex books with practice questions to help study for your exams. NCLEX-RN Questions and Answers made Incredibly Easy is one of my favorites. It is just questions to practice on each system with the rationals. Saunders is also good. But it doesn't have a lot of questions to practice it's a good quick review.
And a tape recorder for lectures if it is allowed.
Good luck to you!! I'm entering my 4th semester (out of 5).
I go back to school in two weeks and stocked up on school supplies.
Next week I'll probably start stocking up on my snacks for lecture: peanut m&ms or tootsie rolls, lots and lots of diet coke and mountain dew, cheese sandwiches and other easy snacks.
Tylenol 500mg is a must for me !!!
Ativan- but I weaned myself off due s/e of forgetfulness but I may get more from my doc just for PRN
Prayer
Thats it !
I totally concur with Top Model! Totally my guilty pleasure!
Find a good place to study- my school was located 30 miles from my home, but I often found my house too distracting. I live in a college town, so I often went to that library to study- only 2 minutes from my house and very quiet. Notecards were very helpful, especially for pharmacology or other subjects that require much memorization. I'd also recommend drinking lots of water, take sleep over housecleaning every day, and try not to be too hard on yourself if some things (read: dirty home, piles of laundry) get pushed aside. You will always remember how proud you are of your degree, never how messy your house way.
Good luck!
My suggestion is to get your home organized. Catch up the laundry and do any projects that you have been putting off, load up the freezer with quick and easy meals.
Dont forget to get your car into the shop for an oil change and get anything fixed that is needed.
if you have been putting off any medical appts.. get those done too, especially the dentist.
I agree with the other posts about the peanut M&Ms.. they are a Must.. :) I like to mix mine with popcorn... super yummy :)
If u have kids, premake and freeze meals for them, or your husband/wife.
Go to amazon and buy Lippencott Manual of Nursing Practice, it will save your life when you forgot to study something and then hear about it the day of the exam. Huge book but very worth it. Saunders NCLEX review CD with the practice questions.
