Stinky Butts!!

what really grosses me out is when you do a ve and it's so crusty and filthy in the perineal area you expect to hear a crunch sound when you touch them. one of the girls i work w/ stated that she would need a machetti to do a ve on a particular hygenically challenged person w/ matted pubic hair. yuck! how about sputum not the smell, but the look of it. GROSS!!!

That is a pet peeve of mine too. As long as I can remember my mother taught us about being clean.. To come in an establishment with your orifice being ripe is sickening. That is why I don't do postpartum or L&D give me a neonate anyday!!

Don't wear the same shoes everyday, alternate. Don't wear nylons, wear real cotton sox and change your sox mid-shift (just sit for one minute and let your bare feet dry out). You know that "crystal deodorant rock thing" they sell in health food stores? Apply that to your feet-soles in particular-before putting on your footwear.

my dad had bad stinky feet.Half boric acid powder, and half corn starch in a shaker can, will solve the problem. Sprinkle on feet and in shoes, you wont smell anything anymore.!!

silly people. you can also try stuffing newspaper in your shoes overnight. It helps dry them out. Also, always buy two pairs (at least) when you shop, then alternate them, so they can dry out.

I had an obese woman call on the call light one evening. Went in to see what she needed. She was in the bathroom, and needed me to "wipe her butt".....jeez. I gave that up on my kids when they were potty trained, say about 3 yrs old? I asked her, how do you do this when you are at home? Answer: "oh, my 7 year old does it for me" Talk about child abuse.....yuck.

Thank you for making me laugh after a rough night! I did OB triage all night so I had my share of stanky booty.

One thing I have learned from doing OB so long - those people on Jerry Springer? They are REAL! I see a couple of candidates every night.........

Quick story about the dirtiest man I ever saw. I got a phone call from a cardilologist to go check on one of his more stubborn pts at home. When I got there, the pt was covered in filth (cow poop and mud) and stank to high heaven. He was in severe CHF and his kidneys hadn't made urine in over 24 hrs but the pt struggled through his chores taking care of his cows. He refused to go to the hospital. After about an hour of rangling with him, he admitted that he didn't want to go because he was "too dirty." It took an hour of scrubbing with the help of family who had arrived to make him sparkle, put him in a clean suit and off he went. He had dignity. I'll never forget him.

Here was a man who should've been in an ICU out caring for his animals...farming is hard, dirty work. He was admitted to the CCU immediately and died the next day.

People who think nothing of going ANYWHERE, filthy, amaze me.

THAT IS EVIL! nasty woman...of all the stories here this one makes me sickest. Bet when she is old and disabled, her kiddo won't be there wiping her butt then.

Illinois to Oklahoma to Texas, to Arizona, to Washington State. I have lived all these places. Stinky butts are rank all over and rest assured, no one state "takes the cake" from where I sit. Gross is gross no matter what state in which it resides and nasty people live all over the place, trust me.

WOW!! Of all the things about nursing that I am looking forward to, "stinky butts" are definitely not on the list! Yuck! lol
