Stinky Butts!!

Nurses General Nursing

O.K. I'm venting here. I am disgusted by people that do not

know how to properly clean thier behinds after a BM!:( :( I am

not talking about people with special needs or handicaps.

I do not understand why someone would go to a doctors office

or hospital and smell like "poop" What is up with that? Or is it

something I am making a big deal over? Anyway, I

can handle odors from illness or wounds. But, this bugs me!!:(

Thanks for listening!! Hugs to all! :D

I would have to agree. We get many people in the hospital that are quite "ABLE" to care for themselves, but they have dried, crusty stool on their bottom. The men that aren't circumcised have gosh knows what coming out from there. The women....oh gosh, to do peri-care on them makes you want to vomit!

I agree, give me a stinky wound, or a unfortunate soul that is tended to properly and I can deal, but those adults that can wipe appropiately and don't.....geez...!!!

What bugs me even more are the ones that supposedly "just had a bath" or "just got changed" (in the hospital, by whomever--not necessarily picking on MA, have had family members and nurses do this to) but they are still stinky and not cleaned up in the creases. Ugh.

Panda, I deal with situations like that on a daily basis. I know exactly what you mean.

Perhaps these other people who are capable of cleaning themselves after a BM aren't aware of the fact that sometimes it takes more than one wipe to be clean. Had to explain that to my youngest son.......he IS only 7 though. :p

Recently on our floor we've had lots of reeeeeeally foul stinky feet. Some so bad the odor reaches the nurses station and lingers so that when people enter our dept they notice and comment. Some people are obviously hygienically (sp?) challenged, but some are new dads who have been here for days and not had a chance to shower yet.

stinky butts are one problem. but smelly feet really get me:)

not to mention the poor hygiene of the personal area i experience nearly everyday. i can understand if someone is in an accident that they might not be fresh as a daisy, but come on,if you are going to the doctor for a chsck up, or coming to the hospital in labor i think you should usually have time to clean it up a little:)

Mark, our family is cursed with stinky feet. Dear man gags when I take off my shoes at the end of the day. Powders, creams, nothing helps. Stay away from me.

I give the best pericare around though. No smelly butts on my patients.

I'd take a stinky butt over smelly feet any day. The police drag these "intoxicated, home challanged, individualls into the ER because they don't have "Drunk Tanks" anymore.

You have a new nurse working who immediately undresses them and takes their shoes and socks off.:chair: The whole ER starts smelling of those rotten feet.

We now have several bottles of strongly scented hand lotion on the unit. The nurse who draws the short straw puts on all the PPG she can find, triple gloves and smothers those little puppies with half a bottle of lotion than puts on footies and covers all that with a plastic bag. It is pure survival for the staff, visitors and other patients.

SSorry, Third shift Guy no offence meant. I was typing when you slipped yours in. However I doubt that you wait weeks and months inbetween washing you feet as most the ETOH challenged patents we get do.

You're not the only one, I constantly change and wash my shoes, use all kinda powers, sprays etc. manage to keep them fairly fresh most of the time:)

you would not believe home many people come in here with stinky feet. I am often teased that i was my patients feet so much, but since they usually end up on my shoulder or near nose level its usually more for my beniefit:)

That's when I pull the "here let me help freshen you up so you'll fell better".... speach....

That's why I could never be a GYN! Or work L&D! Some people just have no sense than to wash "down there"! ICK!
