Congratulations on your new job!
I really like Littmann stethoscopes. I have a Master Cardiology, which I like a lot. It has a tunable diaphragm so you can use it for adults, peds, and infants. The only drawback to it is that it is heavy. That and I just got basic black, so it's not in any fun color. I just wanted something that would go with everything, and basic black fits the bill.
I had a Master Cardiology as well. It was over $200 and was stolen while I was at work. I bought an ADScope because of comparable reviews for $80 and I LOVE IT. It is just as good as my $220 Master Cardiology and now I don't have to stress so much about losing it.
The exact same thing happened to me. I had a Master Cardiology and it was stolen. Got an ADC Adscope and loved it! Actually, I won it at work so I never knew how much it cost. Still use it today and it's been probably 13 or 14 years since I got it. It's just as good as the Litmans.
Don't buy one until you check out the ultrascope stethoscopes! I researched them all and found the ultrascope to be the best in my opinion.
Mine is personalized with my name on the head and I picked a design that I like with my favorite color and matching tubing. I also have a bling ring attachment that I bought from ultrascope when they came out this year. I can hear better with this stethoscope than with any other I've tried - it responds to pressure instead of flipping the head. I suggest Googleing and reading the reviews. I am constantly receiving compliments on my stethoscope and because it's personalized, it always comes back to me. You can have any design you want put on the head - I just can't say enough about how great they are!
I have a Littman Classic IISE. They are around $100 but you may find it cheaper on line.
I've already had one stethoscope come up missing so didn't want to invest in the Cardiology version. Maybe one day I will but the Classic really is a decent scope.
I do have some nerve damage in one ear and I can hear ok with the Classic but I can tell that my sensitivity in that one ear is getting worse so I may need that fancy 'lectronic one before long!

Hi everyone!
I just accepted a position in the ED, yay!
I'm in the market for a new stethoscope, any recommendations?
Thanks!
