Jun 3, 201412 yr Hi everyone!I just accepted a position in the ED, yay! I'm in the market for a new stethoscope, any recommendations? Thanks!
Jun 3, 201412 yr Congratulations on your new job!I really like Littmann stethoscopes. I have a Master Cardiology, which I like a lot. It has a tunable diaphragm so you can use it for adults, peds, and infants. The only drawback to it is that it is heavy. That and I just got basic black, so it's not in any fun color. I just wanted something that would go with everything, and basic black fits the bill.
Jun 3, 201412 yr I have a Cardiology III and an amplified 'scope.Probably would just get a $30 basic model which suffices for gross lung sounds, manual bp, and NG confirmation (please, everybody, let's avoid the temptation to head down *that* rabbit hole).
Jun 4, 201412 yr I have a Littmann Cardiology III. In coral pink which no one else in my department has. The color isn't my favorite but also makes it harder for it to grow legs and run off.
Jun 4, 201412 yr Author Thanks everyone for the input. I think I'm going to go for a cardiology III. :)
Jun 5, 201412 yr I had a Master Cardiology as well. It was over $200 and was stolen while I was at work. I bought an ADScope because of comparable reviews for $80 and I LOVE IT. It is just as good as my $220 Master Cardiology and now I don't have to stress so much about losing it.
Jun 8, 201412 yr I had a Master Cardiology as well. It was over $200 and was stolen while I was at work. I bought an ADScope because of comparable reviews for $80 and I LOVE IT. It is just as good as my $220 Master Cardiology and now I don't have to stress so much about losing it.The exact same thing happened to me. I had a Master Cardiology and it was stolen. Got an ADC Adscope and loved it! Actually, I won it at work so I never knew how much it cost. Still use it today and it's been probably 13 or 14 years since I got it. It's just as good as the Litmans.
Jun 9, 201412 yr Don't buy one until you check out the ultrascope stethoscopes! I researched them all and found the ultrascope to be the best in my opinion. Mine is personalized with my name on the head and I picked a design that I like with my favorite color and matching tubing. I also have a bling ring attachment that I bought from ultrascope when they came out this year. I can hear better with this stethoscope than with any other I've tried - it responds to pressure instead of flipping the head. I suggest Googleing and reading the reviews. I am constantly receiving compliments on my stethoscope and because it's personalized, it always comes back to me. You can have any design you want put on the head - I just can't say enough about how great they are!
Jun 19, 201412 yr I have a Littman Classic IISE. They are around $100 but you may find it cheaper on line. I've already had one stethoscope come up missing so didn't want to invest in the Cardiology version. Maybe one day I will but the Classic really is a decent scope. I do have some nerve damage in one ear and I can hear ok with the Classic but I can tell that my sensitivity in that one ear is getting worse so I may need that fancy 'lectronic one before long! meredith
Jun 19, 201412 yr I love my ultrascope. I have a littman as well but I think the ultrascope is better. plus since they have so many designs and engraving available they are less likely to walk away.
Jun 20, 201412 yr How well does an adult ultrascope work with a pediatric? I know my Littmann has a pediatric head.
