I believe there is a whole thread or more about stethoscopes so try searching.
Sometimes you will go through more than one type until you find a preference.
That may sound like a pricey way to go about it, but if you are going to be a nurse for any reasonable mount of time, it never hurts to have more than one anyway.
My baby is my Littman Cardiology III, but I have a lesser grade Littman as a back up.
I chose the III because my hearing isn't so hot and I could really tell the difference.
Littmann stethoscopes are good quality and you don't always want to be in your patients face when taking a B/P 28 inches in fine. As you grow in your career you may wish to change of get a more specialized version. I have used Littman my entire career and I ahve found them of good quality and durability.

Congrats on school and Good Luck in school!!!!
I have the Cardiology III. Love it. Get alot of compliments on it as well. Bought it on Medisave and they have free engraving as well. They give you "points" for purchasing certain items. So when my little sister made it into the program, I bought her the Classic II SE and got a discount. :) She really likes her Classic II. A few of her friends have already gone out and bought the Classic because they like the quality of hers so much. Goodluck!
littman is also well-known for their excellent customer service. if you need a replacement part, extra ear buds, engraving, that sort of thing they are always willing to help. once they gave me a whole new stethoscope because the tubing got kind of stretched out and the head kept falling off.
I had a Classic II in school and it was great. Great for student nurses. A lot of my classmates also had it. It's nice because it comes in a wide range of colors :)
After I graduated, I opted for a Cardiology III which I LOVE. I honestly wouldn't go back to the Classic II. For learning purposes, you don't need to spend a FORTUNE on a stethoscope, but enough for a quality one, and the Classic II is great quality.

Hey guys, I am sorry if this post is in the wrong place as this is my first post on the site. (I will learn with time, lol).
I am starting my Junior year in a University nursing program this summer after doing 2 years at my local community college. With that said, I am trying to get my supplies together and I just have a couple questions about the stethoscope.
What kind do you guys recommend? I have been giving the Littmman Classic II some thought.
Also, my biggest concern is the length of the stethoscope. I have found a pretty good deal on amazon but I see that the one that I was looking at is 28 inches. Is 28 inches too long, should I try to go smaller? (I am a male and I am 5'6). I have NO prior knowledge of stethoscopes.
Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks guys!
