Stethoscope for nursing students!

Published

I start school in 2 weeks and didn't realize I needed a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff. I need to order one ASAP but don't know what kind is the best! I need to stay under $50 at least till I get my schooling money in and I can buy a better one! I have been on allhearts.com but there is so many to choice from I don't know where to start!

Any advice is welcomed,

Thanks

LittMann Stethoscopes are great. The audio quality on them is great. You stated you need to stay under $50 - this one is from LittMann,

Amazon.com: 3M Littmann Lightweight II S.E. Stethoscope, Black Tube, 28 inch, 2450: Industrial & Scientific

It is $44.00 but I believe its worth the investment to purchase a good stethoscope.

You can also purchase some cheaper stethoscopes, but I feel sometimes it can be really hard to hear well out of them.

I found this stethoscope and BP cuff kit thats under $50 Amazon.com: Dixie EMS Blood Pressure and Sprague Stethoscope Kit: Industrial & Scientific

This is another stethoscope that looks similar to the LittMann ones, its way cheaper though. I can't say much on the quality since I've never used it - but the reviews aren't so bad.

Amazon.com: MDF® Dual Head Lightweight Stethoscope - All Black (MDF747-BO): Industrial & Scientific

I would recommend this one: This is the one I use: Amazon.com: 3M Littmann Classic II S.E. Stethoscope, Black Plated Chestpiece and Eartubes, Black Tube, 28 inch, 2218BE: Industrial & Scientific

It is above $50; but in the future if you are looking to upgrade your stethoscope, I would recommend this one.

Good luck with everything!

The MDF brand is wonderful! Try the acoustica! It's cheap, lightweight and you can hear really well out of it. Comes in a multitude of colors and has a lifetime warranty. They take the warranty serious. They're very punctual and timely in responding to requests and problems.

I bought the Littmann lightweight to save money, and I regret it.

I have a Cardiology on order. Most of the people in my classes have the classic II or the Cardiology III

I have a cardiology 3, it was an investment piece. I love it. I have listened on others and wouldn't trade mine for the world.

I'm ordering the Littmann Cardiology III, but I know other classmates like the Littmann Classic because you can use a smaller bell for pediatric patients.

Thanks everyone for your input! Come to find out my dad had an littmann classic II from when he worked in the medical field. I'm going to use it till I can buy a newer one. :)
