Working as a peds nurse pregnant?
Maybe I should reword and say I wrote this when I wasn’t happy about work. When we give immunization. For tend to lay them on the bed. Have parents hold the hands and just be up by their face so they can see them. We like to give shots at the same time just cause it’s faster! So one will put the kids legs between theirs. It’s not really to aggressively hold them down! It’s just to keep their legs flat. We don’t put pressure or anything on the legs! We are abusing our kids lol. We love them! But as they get the shot they of course jump and are scared with can lead to a kick or two. Most of them time it’s the kids getting swabbed. We tend to have the parent hold but they just ‘don’t hold well’ which just ends with kids kicking and screaming. I mean think about it. The kid is getting something stuck up it’s nose. It’s not gonna like it. I mean it’s not like a circus and we aren’t getting kicked 24/7 but it does happen and I’m scared that one time it will be my stomach

No! It’s just the parents don’t help hold. We are a regular peds clinic doing immunization and sick visits.

Working as a peds nurse pregnant?
Okay so this may be long but I would love some insight on what you would do! Currently I work in a peds clinic. We tend to get some very aggressive kids who want to fight you. If we do anything from swabs to injections, for the safely of both the pt and nurses we go in pairs. 2 of our nurses are just now starting maternity leave. For the last 9 months me and one of them have worked the same schedule. So we had an agreement I held them all while she done whatever needed to be done. I left with bruises and kicks to the stomach many days! Another girl just found out she was pregnant! And I’m in the process of getting pregnant. We are down them two nurses on maternity leave plus one quit. And they ain’t hiring anyone right now. So for much of the day I’ll be alone. Would you do this? How would you handle it. It’s great pay, I love the kids I see regularly but I’m scared for when the time comes I’ll get my baby hurt!

Books for peds
Thanks! When I went into nursing school I said I wanted to work peds from the start as well. Sadly I took the first job that was offered. I convinced myself it was were I needed to start (better hours, less critical pts, had the weekends off etc.) but every fast I realized it wasn't for me! Thank God I was sent to work for peds for 2 days and my whole thought on nursing changed! I was days away from changing careers. Not only did I see a difference in myself but the peds nurses did as well and talked to their boss about giving me a job without me knowing! I accepted it and haven't looked back! It's been a lot more stressful than the job I left but I love the girls I work with and wouldnt changed it for a second!

Books for peds
So I recently graduated, got my dream job as a peds nurse! It's not been roses and sunshine like I thought it was but I was somewhere else before hand and I would still consider this a dream job! While in high school I read a book called something like I didn't know how strong I was till I became a nurse. I would love to read a book like this for peds or actually any other books for nurses in general

First job
I just graduated less than a month ago, had a job waiting and already passed my boards. I started this week and with all the classes I have to go to for the hospital (stupid non helpful classes) I only worked for 2 and half days in my office. I feel good with my pts, like talking to them but the issue is I feel stupid when talking with the nurses and drs. Now they want me to be ready to take on a full load in 2 weeks. This has me freaking out! They also have this call center that anyone can call that has a medical questions then they send them to you to answer! They get like 20 calls a day from the call center and I never know what to tell the pts! I ask questions but only one nurse is really helpful the others are like here go do this and get mad when I ask for help!!! I'm so stressed, I don't eat or sleep any more! I want this to work out and be here for the long run but it's seriously killing me!! Is this normal??

Float pool right out of school?
So I'm precepting with a lady who works in the float pool. So far I like it but I think it's for the simple fact she has made that connection with other people in the hospital. She has already talked to her boss about hiring me on out if school. I'm so grateful for that as I done most of my clincials in another state and I don't have that conncection. The issue is I don't know how I would like it as a new nurse. I feel like I haven't done a lot And don't wanna be thrown to the wolfs kinda thing! I have applied for many different jobs as far as in hospitals, LTC and doctor office. There is 3 I'm really hoping to hear back from but what do I do about this one? I don't want to be ungreatful but I need a home even if just for a year to where I can build connections and become a better nurse. What would you do? Also I graduate in 4 weeks. I have already applied to jobs but I just got an email back from one saying I can't apply till I pass my boards. I thought everyone started early?

First nursing test#
My first fundamental test is coming up this week and I don't know how to study for this type of test. She said it would be nclex style questions. Its over the first 2 chapters. The first chapter is like the history of nursing then the second one talks about chronic, acute, stages of illness etc.. I have had nclex questions before but I don't understand how she will get that style out of this material.

2nd day of school!
I went in my first day of nursing school so excited and even left more excited knowing I picked the right school. Now it's day 2 and I'm nervous? I had 5 chapters I had to read before today which I done but I'm afraid I didn't understand it like I should! My class doesn't start for another 4 hours but part of me wants to curl into a ball and cry already! Is this normal?!

Verification for FASFA
Okay so I'm not sure if this is the right place to be asking but I need help ASAP!!! I started nursing school this week but I feel like everything is falling apart already! I was chosen for verification so I already done the paper work but I was under the impression the only paper I needed to turn in was MY W2. I go to turn them in yesterday and she said that she couldn't accept it. She needed my IRS transcript. According to the website it could take up to a month to get it but if we don't get this in by 2 weeks we get kicked out! So my questions is can I go to the local IRS office and get this instead of mailing (I was told you could, but is it the same?) second, is there any other papers I need? I live with my parents still!!! Help before I get kicked out!!!
