Stephen King Readers Thread

Published

So a recent thread got me thinking (which is never a good thing) It appears we have number of Stephen King Readers. I suggest we do a nursing DX for our favorite King Character!

BTW if you liked The Shining (Book not movie) you are going to love Dr. Sleep

Hppy

I forced myself to read the first one to see what all the hoopla was about.

By the time I finished, my brains were leaking out of my ears, my eyes were bleeding and my IQ had dropped 30 points.

THIS!!

(And don't get me started on 50 shades...but that's a different thread.)

A friend of mine who is an editor, used the hyperbolic example of "Edward frowned, sadly" to describe to a friend just how terrible it is.

Omg, yes! Lol!

Awesome thread idea Hppy! I love Stephen King, have read everything he's written. Hard to pick a favorite, but I think that Salem's Lot is pretty scary... A real vampire story, unlike these (forgive me) teeny bop romance vampires. And I can't wait for his new book of short stories coming in November!!!

Interview with King on Harry Potter vs (ahem) teeny bopper romance.

I can't remember the quote, but basically he said that Harry Potter taught kids what it's like to stand up for what's right, how to stand in the face of adversity, and how to fight for good.

Twilight taught kids how important it is to have a boyfriend.

Another reason to love King. (I'm also a Potter fan).

Oh yeah, I have a fun link I used for those books from someone who hated them due to their lack of anything resembling coherent literary status.

I need to interject on Fifty Shades as I notice someone commented. I've read all three books and I don't know why because Fifty is probably some of the worst writing EVER. The sex wasn't interesting either. After I finished reading the books, I gave them away.

Thank you. Carry on......

That review is what I wanted to say but I don't write that well. Thanks for sharing!

I just had to re-read it again too . . . .glad I kept it. LOVE the word count at the end.

She reviews the other books as well.

Have you ever seen the clips of celebrities reading 50 Shades? The Gilbert Gotfried reading is hilarious. I would post it, but the language is against TOS.

I agree. It's dreck.
