Starting Salary [new grad]?

Published

Salary seems to be a fuzzy topic when it comes to new grads, the students in my cohort all have different expectations. We were wondering what all of you at allnurses would have to say. Hopefully, you are comfortable to share your starting salary.

If you have started as a new grad in the last 4 years, please reply with the city/state/department/ADN or BSN and hourly rate.

We are hoping it will be beneficial to know what to expect vs getting sticker shock! Thank you allnurses!

Specializes in Spinal injury.

Boston, ADN w/previous bachelor degree. 28 and some change per hour.

New grad BSN in Connecticut. 30.90 per hour, 12% eve differential, 20% night differential, +$2/hr on weekends.

New grad ADN working in a hospital in SoCal for $35/hr.

Baltimore area hospital, Medstar Health, BSN new Grad / $29hr + benefits / + Night/WE differentials. Not bad considering some of the reviews Ive seen thus for. Opportunities here at this time are far and few between. Lots of cutbacks, layoffs and hiring freezes. Thanks Obama.

Anyone knows what the starting salary is for north shore lij franklin hospital in valley stream NY for a new grad?

I work in a mid-sized city in western NY. Started at $22.50/hr for days, with 23.50 on evenings, and 24.50/hr on nights on a rehab unit at a local hospital. The place was horrible though and I took a school nursing job. Only make $33000/year (salaried) but its a lot less hours so if you break it down, my hourly rate is actually $23.87. I still work 2 shifts a month at my old job per diem, and get $25, 26, 27/hr based on shift. I have an ADN with a BA degree in a non-nursing field.

Bay Area, CA. BSN new grad. Telemetry/Neuro $42. From what others have posted a li'l low for my area.

Pennsylvania, new grad (August 2013) LTC $26/hr + benefits

NYC. New Grad, Medsurg 41/hr (with BSN) 44/hr for Nights + Benefits

Specializes in Geriatrics, Telemetry, Med-Surg.

I got my start on a tele unit. $18.03/hour with $1.68/hour shift diff. I have my ASN and live in Indiana.

i think people should state how many hours a week they get because 26.40 is a lot but if you only working 20 hrs a week, thats not alot of money
