Salary seems to be a fuzzy topic when it comes to new grads, the students in my cohort all have different expectations. We were wondering what all of you at allnurses would have to say. Hopefully, you are comfortable to share your starting salary.
If you have started as a new grad in the last 4 years, please reply with the city/state/department/ADN or BSN and hourly rate.
We are hoping it will be beneficial to know what to expect vs getting sticker shock! Thank you allnurses!
I work in a mid-sized city in western NY. Started at $22.50/hr for days, with 23.50 on evenings, and 24.50/hr on nights on a rehab unit at a local hospital. The place was horrible though and I took a school nursing job. Only make $33000/year (salaried) but its a lot less hours so if you break it down, my hourly rate is actually $23.87. I still work 2 shifts a month at my old job per diem, and get $25, 26, 27/hr based on shift. I have an ADN with a BA degree in a non-nursing field.
