Starting salaries of various states?

Published

Could anyone tell me how much their starting salary was (if its not too personal)? And also which state you work in and if the salary is good for the state's cost of living? Thanks...

Check out the general nursing forum where there are several threads discussing salary. May want to do a search

A new grad RN in most parts of Oklahoma will start at about $18.50 per hour, plus or minus a few cents. This is a low nursing wage in a low cost of living state.

A new grad RN in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas will start at about $23 hourly, plus or minus a couple of dollars.

I'm in OK, and the hospitals right now are offering about $18-19/hr for new grads. I'm an LPN (graduating from RN in May) and I work in a specialty hospital making $18/hr with shift diff., but the hopsitals in my area pay new LPNs about $12-14/hr. There is a huge difference depending on the are of the country. You can just google it. I think salary finder. com has good info, but the salaries do seem higher than actual pay from the new nurses I know.
