Starting Salaries For New Grads

Nursing Students General Students

Just wondering how the starting salaries compare for new grads around the countries....if you know what yours are, could you post them please? I am thinking of relocating and am wondering if I can afford it ....also let me know what the cost of living is like in your area....

I am in Southern CT and the salaries are as follows

NEW GRAD BASE RATE = $22-24/hr

SIGN ON BONUS = $6,000-$10,000

DIFFERENTIAL = Eves $2-$3

Night $3-$4.85

W/E $2-$4.50

Retention Bonuses = approximately $5000./year

Hi, central CT here.

Starting Base-$21.00

Week nite (7PM-7AM M-TH) 25%

Weekend F-S-S 50%

Oklahoma City starting salaries are about $15.50 an hour with $3 differential. Cost of living though is *very* low here. Still I think $15-$16 hr is crappy wages :(

I think that there is another thread about this same subject and many people responded to it. If you can find it, you may be able to get a good idea about how much to expect in different areas.

Mpls/St. Paul, MN generally $19-21/hr. Not so bad. There is only 40 cent difference between having ADN & BSN.

Down Under the pay for a first year grad is around $16-17 an hour making roughly $600- $700 a week which is getting better then it used to be thankfully. Pay for Registered nurses in nursing homes and private hospitals is lower however.

Hi Central CT!!!!!

WOW!!!!

50% w/e differential??????

25% night differential??????

Which Hospitals are paying that????

I think I will move back home....from Rocky Hill originally!

I'm in Kansas City, Missouri and the cost of living here is pretty good. The salaries for new grads went up at the hospital I am working at after graduation because another hospital system brought out the old hospital system. I just found out that I will be making:

$19.00 an hour base pay plus since I am working nights I will be getting $3.00 an hour on top of the base for working nights so altogether I will be making $22.00 an hour. I believe for weekends it is $4.00 an hour on top of the base. That is not too bad considering last year grads came out at the same hospital making only $16.00 an hour base pay.

down here it is about 17 an hour on avg. pay her kinda ,well you know the word for it:)

It is anywhere from $16-20 an hour for new grads in my area (WV). Depends on how far you want to travel to work. The closest one to me pays $17, or I could drive for an hour and make $20. I choose the one closest to home.

Washington State here, $21.07 to start and I don't know about the differentials sorry

It is at Hartford Hospital. I start there on June 16. There is no sign on bonus but they do pay for NCLEX class. St. Francis starts at 22.50 but their differentials are much lower.

I know where ever I go there is going to be the same problems, so I figured I might as well get the best pay I could out of it. I actually live closer to Mass, but the pay is less there and they don't have GN status.
