I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)

Hey,This question may seem a little silly but where does it list what books we will need to get for our 1st semester of classes?
The UT Houston Bookstore website (http://webmedbooks.com/uthnursing/coursebooks/courseSearch.aspx) will let you search for textbooks by course number. However, they don't seem to have the lists. If you post your email address or PM me your email address I'd be happy to send you the list made for my first semester. All of the books will more than likely be the same except that the Mosby's drug guide and the Ackley care plan book will be the newer edition.
Sholman713, I looked on the course schedule and they haven't listed times on some of these courses, but from what I remember from my first semester, this is what I can make out.
Health assessment: this course has been online the past couple semesters, but it says that class is from 7 to 9. Maybe this is labs and not class. If so, that 7am lab would be a killer. Maybe they made a mistake :/ Labs for 1st semester students this year didn't start until after 8, so I dunno what's going on with that.
You will probably have pharm Thursday morning from 9 to 12 and then patho in the afternoon from 1 to 4. This is what the schedule was for my class this past spring and for the 1st semester students this year.
Care will be either on Tuesday or Wednesday. Most likely it will be Tuesday from 8 until 12 (sometimes during the first month or so, they'll keep you until 3 or 4pm to make up for clinical time that you do not have).
They will be scheduling labs during your free Wednesday and Friday for the first month to month and a half before you start clinicals, so do not plan anything during those days.

OMG that sounds like some loonngg days!!
They will not run out of room in the classes. They have spots in all of the classes for everyone who is accepted. They usually don't have the class times figured out at this point. We didn't find out the times for all of our classes until orientation. Health assessment this semester is online with 3 different labs times. You will be assigned one of the lab times.

Dpierson, I am in the same boat as you....they told me it takes 4-6 weeks to process everything and figure out how much aid you can receive. I received my SAR information on November 8. Six weeks (the max amt of time) from that time is around the 20th of December. So if you applied for financial aid sometime before November, I'm sure we should be fine.....I can't register for classes anyway until around late December because I am currently taking one last pre-requisite and need to send them my transcript to take off the hold. Registration for classes ends around early January, I think?
*edit - I just looked up the end date for registration and it is January 7th. I am pretty sure we will have enough time. But hopefully there are enough open classes.
