Spring 2011 UT Health Sciences Nursing Hopefuls

Published

I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)

I've used all but the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association so far this semester. If you have to cut back, a lot of people don't read their Pharm book, and many dont use the big Porth book for Pathology but prefer the smaller paperback one that is optional.

Do you guys think that taking a cpr class on December 4th is too late?....I know that we need all the holds finished by orientation (December 10)

i dont think that dec. 4th is too late for cpr. so far all the stuff that i have faxed and mailed in, immunizations etc. have been taken off my holds the following day or by day 2, so i wouldnt worry about it. just make sure you fax it asap and i am pretty sure you will be okay. i wont finish my cpr until dec. 6th, (my last hold). cant wait to register!

Does anyone know what the "Admission Documents" hold is? And has anyone else had the most difficult time getting through to anyone via phone at UT? All I can ever manage to get in touch with is someone's answering machine!

I know what you mean. I have been emailing and calling the financial aid office to get information for loans and I can't seem to get any information. Its so frustrating!

i spoke with someone in financial aid office yesterday and i was told that it takes 4-6 weeks to process my financial aid information. i told them that i cannot pay for anything, classes, books, supplies, out of pocket and that i need financial aid to pay for it all and they said that it takes 4-6 weeks and if my financial aid isnt taken care of by the first day of class, there will be a one time late fee on the classes i enroll in. that is scary info especially for those of us who cannot go to school unless we use financial aid. I did email my financial aid advisor. you can find your advisor on the financial aid page on UT. your advisor is based on your last name. they have their emails so hopefully it wont take 4-6 weeks but if it does i will be doing it all at the very last minute.

Is the financial aid info you're talking about the scholarship application? Or is there something else to fill out for that that is separate?

Registered for all my classes today and surprisingly the total was only about $3200 which is doable especially with some assistance from financial aid. BTW for the person that asked about the payment plan option. There is now an installment plan option on my UTLINK. This maybe because I registered today but there is an payment plan option.

Hey,

This question may seem a little silly but where does it list what books we will need to get for our 1st semester of classes?

I called about the admission documents hold and they said it was because I was registered for classes this semester. I ended up dropping that class because it was needed for another school, but they said they still need the most current transcript.

Sholman713, what does your schedule look like?

The admission documents hold means that you have to send them your transcript once you finish any outgoing pre-requisites in December. That's what I was told by the school, at least!

Also, I've found it best to call the school in the morning like before 12. That's when they seem to be most available, in my experience.
