Spring 2011 UT Health Sciences Nursing Hopefuls

I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)

I'm also confused as to what this vivian smith scholarship is. What is it based off of? Because I got an application for a scholarship in my packet but I there is no "vivian smith" name on it?

Yeah, I got the scholarship info but no vivian smith scholarship info as well.

well it just came with my acceptance packet. i think it said i got it based my previous grades?

its basically only $1000 for the 1st 2 semesters.

Basically, I received an award letter stating that since I had demonstrated 'academic excellence' in my endeavours, I was getting the scholarship. It was the first page in my packet.

I am still finishing up my prereqs, and my transcript won't be available until late December, so I can't register til then. It makes me nervous because it's cutting it kind of close. I saw the scrub package offered by the bookstore, and I think I will go ahead and order it because you do save some money.

Those of you who got into TWU also, have you notified them yet? I kind of feel bad I haven't yet, but I'm really just waiting until a few holds have cleared and then I'll call them.

Hey everyone,

Fist of all congrats to all that got accepted into the program!!!! I currently applied to Lonestar Cyfair, and I am on the alternate list. I am trying to get my ADN and then my BSN. I am a die hard UT fan, and I can wait to be accepted to UTH one day. I was just wondering if there are any who applied to Lonestar Cyfair program, who got accepted and will be dropping if they applied and got accepted into UTH? Again, congrats to all that got accepted!!!!!!

i cant get into UT link and it said it is due to high volume. i think because registration begins today for those whose last names begin with u-z, ut link is too busy

Does anyone know how we are going to receive the uniform, etc package we ordered? Will we pick it up from the bookstore or will it be mailed to us? I was just wondering since we did have to write down our address for them

I notified TWU today that I was declining their offer. They said they needed it in writing, so I sent an email (after I called first). I figure the holds for UT didn't matter, since TWU also requires a background check, drug screen, CPR card and Immunization records before you are fully accepted.

Congrats to everyone that has been accepted! I'm in the class of fall 2011 and finishing up my first semester. I would be happy to answer any of your questions, since I know I had a ton when I was getting ready to go to UT Houston.

Did anyone get a book list with their packet? I need to start bargain shopping for books I think they require about 11 or 12 books. :uhoh3:

Hi there, Sholman713. One quick question for now - are we required to wear scrubs or anything specific for class? I assume we will wear the lab jacket and scrubs underneath for any labs and scrubs for clinical. I'm debating how many pairs of scrubs to stock up on. Thanks in advance for your help!
