I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)
I think that people are taking this way too far. I am not jealous in any way. Everyone who is qualified deserves the same chance. However, i feel like they should allow the people who do not have a degree the opportunity to fill the traditional program spots. The accelerated program is specifically designed for second degree applicants.. there are soooo many people who are qualified that don't have a degree yet that want to become a nurse..
I dont think that what you said is a fair statement. I am graduating from Texas A&M this December and I don't think that this program is going to be any easier for me because I will have a degree people. They do not discrimnate at UT based on having a degree anyways so everyone will be coming from the same place. I dont understand what having a previous degree would have to do with you being a nurse anyways, if youre as qualified you'll get the position.
Compassion and patience are essential for a nurse to have and I know that this wait is tough on us all but it does no good to anyone to keep posting attacks to someone who clearly is just stating an opinion. We will have to have compassion and patience for those who speak or write without thinking or for those who just have a different point of view. If we cannot support each other, we will fail in the nursing world. Anywho, I hope we hear next week sometime so that this limbo period will end and we can start to begin the next stage in our lives.

Yeah, if we get good news!!! I'm still so nervous. I try not to think about it too much. :hdvwl:
That's good that you have a distraction. I need one!!! The good news is that we've made it through the majority of the wait
Yea.. I am sorry if I seem like an ass. I wish I had something to occupy my mind. I have a lot of things going on and it will pass within the next month..
Like I have the gym but that is only 2 hours.
i do not understand why ut allows people, who already have a bachelor's degree, to apply to the traditional program. i feel like those people should only be allowed to apply to the accelerated program. this has been my ultimate goal from the beginning. i have never changed my mind about what career i want. this is my ultimate dream. why not give every opportunity (all 80-100 spots) to people who are getting their very first bachelor's degree? people who have bachelors degrees already obtained a life with a job... i need to get there now.... my life is supposed to be starting now. that is just the way i feel. there is a lot of competition as it is... why put us both in the same category?
[color=sandybrown]hi... i am one of those people who already have bachelors degree. i understand your feeling but we dont want to do accl. program because it is too fast.
