Spring 2011 UT Health Sciences Nursing Hopefuls

Published

I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)

I live in N. Conroe, just off the loop. It is going to take me about an hour to get down there, more with traffic.

Specializes in Hematology/Oncology.
Yeah mine would be about the same i'm in the pasadena area now. .It's 25 with no traffic, but there is always traffic!! lol

It is really just 25 minutes?

I don't know how people can be an hour away. I need to be right next to it for the clinicals, classes, and study groups.

Everyone who lives near south 45 and BW 8 you can take the park and ride in at Southpoint for only $3.25 a day (student discount). I take the metro in right now for work and they run from 5 AM to 6:30 PM (rough time). Saves tons of money and you don't have to deal with traffic and the huge parking bill. I'd look at getting a Q card.

I thought about parking cause it looks expensive. Thought about getting a bike

yes it is 25-20 min i live about 3 min from 225 so its easy to hop on and get to downtown, but parking will be interesting... i will have to look into all my options including maybe moving...may be worth my time not to be in traffic

I wonder what type of questions they will ask during the interview..does anyone know how long the interview is going to be?

4 hours. from the past threads i will assume it will ask you scenario questions. just like critical thinking in the essay

For those of you who are still in progress with your 60 hours, does your UTLINK show something similar to this? I am worried that it shows my Academic Transcripts not received, but when I asked UT they said it was because it was not complete, because of my classes that I am currently enrolled in. Thanks!

I think it is because technically nothing is finalized. Whn you are done with the semester it should switch to complete.

This is just an assumption

I also have an interview scheduled for Spring UT 2011. I will not deny that just as I am excited, I am hesitant and nervous. If you guys/ ladies don't mind sharing my concern is more of the time load. How many of you are moms, wifes, or will have to maintain a job through school, will have more than half hour commute? I am a mother of 3 and no I do not work but my commute is 45 min flowing traffic. I will also be applying to a local ADN program here at San Jacinto college for the Spring and if I go that route obviously pursue the BSN after that. Thanks for the input, i guess i just need a pep talk that i know others will be in a tight situation one way or another but if given the opportunity we will pull through :D

I'm thinking of moving to the Woodlands..live in the Heights right now..but need space with 3 kids-4 if you include husband. Are you planning to commute if you get accepted?

Does anyone have any idea how many applicants they interview vs. how many are accepted? If they accept 80(and now an extra 50 with the pacesetters program), do you think they interview 300-400?
