Spring 2011 UT Health Sciences Nursing Hopefuls

Published

I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)

AtinaChow,

Do you mean UPS (the "what brown can do for you" guys) or the regular mail (USPS)?

Thanks & congrats on the interview!

USPS, sorry about that. Brown did not do anything for me today ;-D

I'm nervous about the interview! I'm in a ADN program now and my class ends at 11 with mandatory attendance!! I guess I will have to leave early I really don't wanna show up in scrubs to the interview

Are the interviews in a group? or do they call us back one by one?

About how long is the writing sample with the prompt? is it like a regular essay (about 2 pages)?

Do we get to leave once we're done with our interview?

The actual inteview is the last thing you do, and you get called back one by one. You do the writing prompt and other things in a big room with everyone.

The writing prompt is however long you make it, I don't think my writing turned out to be very long, maybe a page.

and yes you can leave once you are done with your interview.

they're not gonna read our interviews in front of everyone, correct?

do we meet all the other applicants and introduce ourselves?

the interview says it could take about 4 hours. Is it really about that long?

I remember being there like 3.5 hours. but it really depends on what order you are called, if you're called first youll get out faster.

I got there a little early because I was coming from College Station and didn't want to be later and all the other people and I just kind of sat around until they called us in. I talked with the people who I sat by. You sit at table with about 4 other people.

No they don't read your interviews in front of anyone. I went to the second floor and interviewed with an older lady. I think there were like 4 interviewers total.

thanks. your posts are very helpful! :)

i just thought of another question... are the prompts having to do with the nursing field, or is it a random creative writing prompt like the ones given on SAT and TAKS?

and did anyone in your interview session wear a dress?

The prompt had to do with the nursing field. It was a lot like the critical thinking questions on the HESI A2. Asking what you would do in a situation, etc.

No one on my group wore a dress. Almost all girls were in a dark skirt suit.

oops! It didnt show it posted the first time.

I got an email for an interview on Sept 16th at noon!!

Can't wait, I'm excited! Good luck everyone!
