Is there anyone else who knows they got into nursing school but it doesn't start until Spring? I'm so happy that I got in. There was over 400 people who applied and only 80 got in... 40 in the Fall and 40 in the Spring. But.... this waiting is worse then when I applied to the school to get in... well maybe not but it is hard. Anyone else in the same boat? :uhoh3:

Congratulations! Which school are you going to? I live in Florence and will be starting SOCC in Coos Bay in Sept. With the numbers you're throwing out there I'm guessing OHSU or perhaps Linfield. Do you have other classes to take in the meantime?

This may be an odd question, but those with a Spring start, do you do the first semester, then have the summer off, or do you continue right through the summer session?

BTW, I forgot to say Congratulations on getting in!! :)

I'm going to Mt Hood Community College. I was also accepted to Linfield but couldn't justify the cost because I have 4 kids that I'm going to have to pay for their college in a few years. I will go to MHCC to get my ADN and then transfer up to OHSU to get my BSN. I've taken almost all my classes for my BSN so it is just sitting around just waiting.

We will start late March and we will not have a break. We will go straight through and not stop until summer of 2006. Going to be rough but some times those breaks are hard because you forget stuff.

Congrats, I'm in the same boat as you...accepted but do not start until the spring semester. Best wishes.

Congratulations! :balloons: :clown: :clown: :balloons:

I got into a program that starts next March but it is out of state. I am going for an interview Thursday for a program that starts this May. I hope to get in there because it is in state :)

At our school, you can defer for one semester, so I know of a few people who took a deferment and will be starting in January. They don't go in the summer - second semester will be next fall for them.

Summer off was not a matter of choice for us Spring starters. It was mandatory. The effect is that we have an additional three plus months added to our time. But statistically more students successfully graduate when they start in the Spring.

I'm just excited to be starting....PERIOD! (august 23rd, here I come!) :)

Have fun in school... you get to start in a couple of days!!!

Glad to here that statistically Spring starters do better then Fall starters but it is just a looooooooooooong wait. It actually is ending up being a good thing waiting so long because I found out I have to have a hysterectomy next month and I would have been in trouble in I started school at the same time. Now at least I'll be nice and recovered in 7 months!

those who start in the spring semester at my school may have it easier. while i have 6 classes of nursing when i start this fall, they will only have 2 nursing classes in the fall (basic nursing classes), and then only 4 classes (which includes clinicals) in the spring. the ones who got in for the spring semester were transfers from other colleges or people who were on the wait list. anyway, good luck to all of you! even though you have to start in spring, it is worth waiting for! :nurse:
