  1. Wow I'm so glad I found this thread. I'm an RN working on getting my MSN so I'm back in school again . We have an assignment to write to a government official about a health care related issue. The wasting of meds down the sink have been on the back of my mind every since the report came out a few months ago about drugs found in the drinking water. We currently put all wasted meds....liquids, pills, PCA drugs down the sink. We cannot use the sharp containers because the hospital people feel that people are going to go fishing through the sharps to get drugs. I read our hospital policy and it said that sending the drugs down the sink is the right thing to do. I just don't agree with putting the drugs in the sink. Water is a big circle of "life" and it will either go back into our mouths as drinking water or a cow will drink that water, we will eat the cow and it is back into our body again. I'm going to write my state senator and see if I can get a response. Has it worked for anyone else? Jill
  2. Hello, Is anyone in or know about information about the RN to BSN program at WSU? I'm hopefully going to attend in August but I'm waiting for the official okay from the school. I do not have any information about what classes I need to take or when I will be taking the classes. I decided to go part time because I'm working full time as a nurse. Does anyone know how often you go to school when you are part time? It looks like one day a week but I want to be sure. Also do you know what day you go to school? We are scheduling for August/September at work and I need to tell them the days I can't work. Thank you in advance, Jill
  3. Congratulations for you getting into school! You are lucky to be able to start in the fall. I have to wait until March of next year and it's going to be a long wait. I just want to get this schooling done and on with my life!!! :)
  4. If there are any nursing students from Oregon, what nursing school did you get accepted into and when do you start? I got into MHCC and I start Spring of 2005. I can't wait and it seems like it is going to take forever to start. I also got into Linfield but I weighed the cost and it would be a lot cheaper to go to MHCC and then to OHSU for my BSN. Jill
  5. Yeah I was declined at PCC also because of the lottery. I'm on the wait list for Walla Walla (way down the wait list at 40) and Linfield. I'm just waiting to hear from MHCC any day now. I feel pretty good about MHCC because I have the medical experience, good work history and I've taken almost all my class for the BSN program. I would prefer to have a BSN but right now I'll take anything I can get into. My GPA is a little low because of anatomy at 3.31. I think that is why I'm having problems getting into the BSN programs.
  6. Congratulation to both of you being accepted to Linfield. I'm on the waitlist so I'm not sure if I'm going to get in or not. Linfield wouldn't tell me how many were on the waitlist but I heard they haven't started filling positions for Fall term yet so I'm crossing my fingers. Good luck in School!!
  7. How do you like Walla Walla? I applied there and waiting for an answer. I applied to 4 different schools and Walla Walla seem to be the best. I always thought Linfield would be until I heard the passing rate for the RN exam wasn't great. I did apply to Linfield though and just found out they had over 800 applications. PCC had over 900 applications. I'm crossing my fingers, toes and anything else I can cross that I can get into Walla Walla!!!! :) Jill
  8. I know in Oregon, you can get a Med Aide certification after you have worked as a full time CNA for 6 months. Then you go back to school and take 40 hours of class time and 40 hours of clinicals. Not sure if you have to pass a board exam like with the CNA certificate. You might try your CNA schools to see if they know any information. Jill
