Spring 2022 Nursing Program at Suffolk county community college

Published

Hello, all future nursing students! I am creating this forum early as I made the last forum for the FALL 2021 program. I found that this is very helpful for questions and to have a support system going through this journey. I am a current Suffolk student that is finished with all of the prerequisites except Micro. I planned to apply for the fall 2021 program but I did not get the grade I needed on the TEAS to apply so I am back at it! Never give up and keep positive! If anyone has any suggestions or helpful resources feel free to comment as this forum is for support! Thanks

I understand the process, but it's nerve wrecking. I had NCC as a back up plan, but to get advanced standing as a LPN, I'd have to take the challenge exam prior to 10/7 which is $400. I don't want to hand out $400 if there's a chance I get accepted into SCCC. Ugh! I hope they make decisions sooner than what was said.

I just called too just to see if they gave a different answer. I was told the "board" is meeting this week. Could be as soon as next week or as late as November. They had roughly 210 applicants for 64 seats between both campuses. As per admissions at ammerman.

OMGGGG! 210 applicants with only 64 seats. ?

Yea. I'm kind of in the same boat. I applied to farmingdale and molloy as well. Farmingdale is a long shot, but molloy I'm accepted to. 2 issues are 1) the school is EXPENSIVE. 2) they require a non refundable 400 deposit by 10/1. IDK what to do.

I applied to Suffolk, Molloy, and Farmingdale too. I applied to Molloy a little late so I should know around the same time as Suffolk. What would be your order if you got into all three? I'm pretty sure mine would be Farmingdale, Suffolk, Molloy. That stinks about the $400 deposit, and Molloy's tuition is ridiculous. I hate they are all on a different timeline, it makes the process even more stressful.

You know what's crazy, 64 out of 210 doesn't even seem that bad compared to Suffolk's Fall start or Farmingdale's programs ?. These programs are out of control LOL. Question: When I applied to Suffolk's Spring part-time program I put Ammerman as my first choice and Grant as my 2nd. Do you know if that means I'm essentially applying to both campuses?

You can say that again! I'm just sticking with Suffolk because it's more convenient as far as tuition and travel. If I don't get in around this time, I will just keep trying.

Yes! Basically if you don't get into Ammerman as your first choice, then Grant would be selected. I think I selected Ammerman day & evening. I live in Riverhead, so Selden would be an easier commute.

Got it! Thanks for the info! I'm just about equal distance from Grant and Ammerman so either would be fine. I also applied to the day/evening programs. I will keep applying until I get in too, can't give up. And the "board" needs to put a little pep in their step and start making decisions ?. Good luck!

I would say farmingdale, suffolk then molloy. I only applied to molloy because I would use it as a back up due to cost.

Oh, OK, thanks Suffolk! ?. Thanks you for calling and posting the info. Let's hope they are just being safe in their timeline.

I heard Molloy program is great, but like you said it's very costly. They definitely would be my last option.

Hey guys

From what I can remember from last year you can call molloy and ask them if you can have a later deposit date. Tell them that you don't get paid until the second week of oct that should buy you some time.
