Spring 2019 Lone Star Hopefuls

Published

I've decided to make this page for anyone applying for the Spring 2019 ADN program at Lone Star CF/K. I'm so nervous and it's still kinda far away! Good luck!

Hi everyone. I just realized my HESI expired yesterday! I am freaking out because I have called all locations and they are full for HESI appointments. Montgomery is not offering it for the next two weeks. The last day to take it is the end of the month. Any suggestions?

I sent u a private message. Hope u got it

Specializes in OB Nursing.
Try Any Lab Test Now- I googled and it shows there's one in Austin. That's who did my titers and I got next day results.

Did you have just the HepB or any others done?

I need to have my Hep B drawn & varicella and I didn't know if it would be quicker to do them together or separate as far as getting the results back. The Hep B I can't get dawn until the 28 because of when I finished the booster series.

Are you serious??? I planned on taking the hesi next week at Montgomery, but I didn't know you had to set up a appointment to take it .

Yeah you have to make an appointment. The spots fill up quickly though.

I just called Montgomery campus and she told me that I can just come Monday through Friday before 2 pm as long as I have a paid hesi ticket. She said they accept walk ins.

I only did my HEP there- I would just call them to check the turnaround time.

I am so nervous about applying. I have an overall score of 7.456 with a 920 on CT. In the information session, the lady said the cutoff score was 7.4 because it is so competitive. I feel I am right on the chopping block. Also I took A&P 2 6 years ago so it's expired. That means I will need to take it in the RN program if I get accepted? As well as pharm. I feel so overwhelmed. I tried applying for LVN in Tomball but they wouldn't let me apply because my A&P 2 was too old. I didn't understand why seeing that they said they would accept the highest of A&P 1 or A&P 2. She told me to apply for their ADN program so I'm apply for Kingwood/Cyfair. What do you guys think? Is a 7.456 good enough? Will it be difficult taking A&P 2 and Pharm together? Do they allow you to take those courses during winter semester?

Chrystal, you got this! They also accept a ton of alternates and there will be people that simply change their mind, fail the drug test or don't complete the required documents by the deadline before class starts. I had a friend that got in after being an alternate and I was one that had to drop because of paperwork last year. You have a great score, be confident!

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I am praying and leaving it in God's hands. I believe everything happens for a reason. I am hopeful.

I'm just curious what kind of paperwork it was that made you have to drop? I'm just trying to be prepared for the worst lol

Cyfair is my first choice school! Just finished my hesi today with a 93 aversge. 96 on anatomy, math & grammar. 890 critical thinking and 84 on vocabulary. Hoping that's enough as I've made an A English and B's in both a&p I & ii over the summer. Rough but it was accomplished.

I'm also applying for Tomball as a fall back. Good luck ladies! My score overall was like a 7.156 i think

Hi Chrystal, if you've only taken A&P I it must be current, 5 years or less before you apply. Technically, A&P II isn't required until the first year/second semester and Pharmacology is incorporated into the first year/first semester. I personally wouldn't recommend taking them both together during the same time while you're in the program. You still have time to take both of them this fall. Taking them before you get into the program would take a lot off your plate.
