Spring 2019 Lone Star Hopefuls

Published

I've decided to make this page for anyone applying for the Spring 2019 ADN program at Lone Star CF/K. I'm so nervous and it's still kinda far away! Good luck!

Hi Chrystal, if you've only taken A&P I it must be current, 5 years or less before you apply. Technically, A&P II isn't required until the first year/second semester and Pharmacology is incorporated into the first year/first semester. I personally wouldn't recommend taking them both together during the same time while you're in the program. You still have time to take both of them this fall. Taking them before you get into the program would take a lot off your plate.

Yes that is what I was thinking. I was trying to see if they were offered during the December mini semester but I don't see any classes up for that right now. Do you know any good professors?

Sooo I'm going to post this and then look back through the thread when I get more time to see if anyone has posted something similar.

Cyfair is my first choice and I wanted to know if any of you Cypress area hopefuls were taking any classes in the fall to lessen the nursing school load? For example, I'm taking:

Medical Microbiology @ Cypress Center

Life Span & Development @ Cyfair Main (not required at Lonestar, but is required for most BSN transfers)

Pharmacology @ North Harris (they cancelled the Cypress one and NH doesn't make you get department consent)

I'd love some study buddies. I have one friend already who is going through the whole deal with me, but I'd like to have more please lol :)

You have to have both 2401 AND 02 to apply for LVN OR 2404. I thought that was weird too as ADN only required the score for one. The reason for that is 2404 is like 2401/02 combined into one class so you'd be applying with technically "half" the knowledge since your 2402 expired, as someone who just took 2404.

Personally even if I didn't get ADN and only LVN, I wouldn't have wasted my time / money taking 2404 because once you get to the ADN/BSN they don't count the 2404. Same for the LVN pharmacology and nutrition courses. I'm taking ADN pharm because that's what's going to transfer and if I get into LVN and not ADN (your score is much higher than mine) I'd take BIOL 1322 vs theirs, because, transferring. Gotta save money, because I don't get financial aid

Awww man! I'm looking into taking Pharm but at the Montgomery campus as 8 week course. Carol Girocco professor has 5.0 rating on rate my professors website lol

Professor Megan M. from tomball for Pharm is awesome! And Donald M. for A&P at University Park is great! He gives practice tests before the actual tests that have half of the real questions on it. Lol and Megan only teaches the essentials!

I'm going to see if they are available! Thank you. I have to register like NOW. LOL I think fall payments are due today too... there goes $1200 for 2 classes. My pockets are crying lol

Did you take your Hesi @ lonestar? Did they provide a formula chart?

Yes I did take it at lone star. Formula chart? Like for math, then no. There are 50 math ?s and they are basically ALL conversions like cm to m, kg to g, ml to oz, etc. and you need to know all of that by heart! Also, mostly proportions ?s like 36/x= 45/10. I'm pretty sure they only put these types of questions because that's what you'll use while doing drug calculations (I took pharmacology already and can tell you knowing all these problems by heart, especially conversions, is essential). I had ONE problem for order of operations, but that's it. OH, and percentage problems which are pretty easy...like what is 12% of 53. They give you a calculator so you should be fine.

i have no idea how to respond directly to people apparently.

Re-read my last post because I kept adding stuff that I forgot lol

Oh and you just press "quote" under the post you want to respond to and then write under the quote.

Thanks! I figured they wouldn't. Had to ask though. Thanks!
