Spring 09 Hopefuls

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I wanted to start a support thread for all of us that will be applying for the Spring 09 start. My hope is that we keep this thread alive through the process and keep each other encouraged! Nursing School is hard enough to get into!

Where are you applying?

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice?

When is your schools deadline?

When does the acceptance letters go out?

What is your plan A, B, C...?

where are you applying?

the local community college.

what is your gpa and/or points for your school of choice?

4.0 gpa for prerequisites - 42 points (out of possible 46 - would already need a bachelors degree to get those extra 4).

when is your schools deadline?

september 15

when does the acceptance letters go out?

sometime in october

what is your plan a, b, c...?

i don't have one! i am 99.9% certain i will be accepted, so we'll see.

I hope to get into the spring classes at Tulsa Community College. I have a 4.0 but I have not taken the NET test yet. Im not sure about when the acceptance letters come out. I will apply after the test. I would love to be a nurse anesthetist. Right now im just worrying about getting in. :nurse:

Where are you applying? LSU HSC!

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? gpa is a 3.75... i dont know if we have a points system?

When is your schools deadline? apply by september 1!

When does the acceptance letters go out? i think late october...

What is your plan A, B, C...?

if i dont get in, i plan on going to LSU in baton rouge (where i am now) and taking a&p to get some practice since it wont count towards credit...i hope i get in the first time though!!

Where are you applying? Several Sacramento-area CC programs for Spring

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? Depends on if you're talking just prereqs, just science prereqs, or overall. Science prereqs will be 3.7 if I get an A in Micro (which I'm taking right now), 4.0 in general prerequisites, and my overall GPA is slightly lower (probably in the 3.3 range) due to a bad start at college a decade ago. I'm taking my TEAS test on August 14.

When is your schools deadline? Varied... but I can't find a deadline listed for many of them! Some are waitlist, so there is no deadline, and others will have applications available August 11 and presumably I'll know at that time.

When does the acceptance letters go out? *shrug*

What is your plan A, B, C...?

Plan A: Finish my BSN prereqs (ochem) spring semester and apply more widely for the fall.

Plan B: Get a medically-related job

Plan C: Find a CNA/MA/something course I can get into

Plan D Get a non-medically-related job

Plan E: Retake prerequisites where I didn't get an A.

Plan F: Take other classes that might help my eventual goals (foreign language, upper division BS classes)

Plan G: Move somewhere where I can get into school more easily (the area within about a 100 mile radius of me appears to be about the most competitive in the country, from what I see here).

Plan H: End up institutionalized in need of a nurse myself, either out of old age or mental breakdown! :banghead:

These are not necessarily mutually exclusive plans, and not necessarily in order.

Where are you applying? Roane State Comm College/TN RODP online AASN program

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? Overall 3.5 but for the classes that count 3.25.

When is your schools deadline? Sept 1st

When does the acceptance letters go out? I don't have a clue.

What is your plan A, B, C...?

Apply for Fall 09.

Specializes in Urgent Care, Family Medicine & OB/GYN.

Where are you applying?

Brookhaven Community College

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice?

The program goes off of points & I have 31.65. The lowest accepted last round was 27 I believe. They added interviews to the mix this time & they're taking the best 40 out of 60.

When is your schools deadline?

September 30th.

When does the acceptance letters go out?

We get e-mails on November 17th.

What is your plan A, B, C...?

A - Brookhaven

B - Houston Community College

C - I have no clue. I know I will be working somewhere in the hospital though! -lol-

D - Maybe a LVN program or something? I don't know! :banghead:

Specializes in 0 as RN, 3 in ICU and Tele as Tech.

Applying to College of Lake County (CLC)

The school I'm applying to doesn't look at GPA, but I graduated with a BS in biology from UIUC with a 3.1. CLC looks at the entrance exam as the sole determination for entrance; I got 99 percentile :)

Deadline for application is September 3rd

Letters go out sometime mid-late October

There is no other plan. This is the only place around my area that offers a nursing degree and has an evening program

Just had to say HI!! to the fellow Illinoisian :) I live next door to you in McHenry County :coollook:

I'm applying to Copenhagen nursing school,

GPA, well i got 40 points out from the IB

Deadline 15th of March

Well the acceptance letters went out this week and arrived yesterday.....accepted(!!)

Plan B? Nope not anymore, now it's full throttle trough nursing school, yay!

I really wish you all best of luck in getting into nursing school!!

(But I found out today that it's guaranteed etntrance to Nursing school because of that thing I have between my legs)

P.S Yay, first post.

So I have been applying now in schools in Sacramento/Norcal area for 2 years. I have been on Yuba's waitlist for a while now too. :banghead: I am hopeful for Yuba for Spring of 09, I busted butt to get Pathophysiology done this summer so I could possibly have a leg up. P.S. do not take that class as a 6 week summer course!!! That was unbelievable. But they should be releasing applications for ARC and SCC as well as Sierra in Sept. So here it goes:

Where: Yuba (waitlisted)

ARC Lottery

SCC Lottery

Sierra Lottery/GPA

GPA: 2.8 not very good but I did well in my pre-req's. I am fortunate for lottery

Deadline: for spring 09 is October 08

Acceptance: Usually letters come out in November. Yuba I have no idea.

Plans? This has been my plan for the last two years:sniff:. My life has been and will continue to be on hold until I get in somewhere. I hope either SCC or Yuba even though Yuba = long scary commute:imbar

Thanks for the thread though, it's pretty cool. I look forward to hearing how everything goes for y'all. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Well I am applying to University of South Alabama.

They require a pre-req gpa of 2.5 ( However, when I talked to them they said, the last person to get seated last semester had a 3.39. They also said they usually get 300-400 applications and only have 120 seats...SCARRY!!!)

I have a 3.69 GPA

The deadline is Sept. 1st

They mail the letters at the end of Oct. - beginning of Nov.

I have no back up plan WHAT-SO-EVER!! So I am PRAYING:saint: I get in!! I am nervious, anxious, scared, etc, ect, all at the same time!!!

As soon as I get my letter I will update!!!:specs:

Specializes in 0 as RN, 3 in ICU and Tele as Tech.

It seems that most of us have the same deadline in mid-September, early October and find out in November. I can't wait when we ALL get in! :yeah:I'm praying for favor for everyone on this thread and board that may be applying! This time next year, we will be all be official nursing students! :nurse:
