Spring 09 Hopefuls

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I wanted to start a support thread for all of us that will be applying for the Spring 09 start. My hope is that we keep this thread alive through the process and keep each other encouraged! Nursing School is hard enough to get into!

Where are you applying?

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice?

When is your schools deadline?

When does the acceptance letters go out?

What is your plan A, B, C...?

What are the points that some of you mentioned for?

anyone applying to bristol community college?

I am more of a Winter 09 start. We begin in early Jan.

Where are you applying? Charlotte Technical College

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? no transferring in any credits. My GPA from college 10 years ago was 4.0, but none of that counts.

When is your schools deadline? Nov. 12

When does the acceptance letters go out? Shortly after Nov. 12

What is your plan A, B, C...? No plan B. Well, this is sort of my plan B as the program I was originally interested in has way too long of a waiting list and a schedule I don't care for. This school has no waiting lists and starts with only small classes. The Director of the program stated that they never turn anyone away. If someone is qualified, they will make room. I found it interesting since most of my friends had waiting lists and the other schools I looked into did as well. The class size is 24.

Scrubmouse -

Are you going to College of Lake County in Illinois? If so, small world, I took a micro-biology class there. Granted it was back in 1986, but I was there. :)

Theresa

I am planning to apply for Spring of 09 and if I don't get in apply for Fall of 09.

Where are you applying? Bristol Community College

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? I have a bachelors degree and will be transferring alot of courses or as much as they can accept. My GPA is from college 10 years ago. It was 3.6.

When is your schools deadline? Jan. 15 for fall and not sure what the spring deadline is but I think mid April?

When does the acceptance letters go out? Sometime in June for Fall and November for Spring. Again not sure for Spring b/c the option of entering in spring is new at the college.

What is your plan A, B, C...? My plan B is apply to Bcc for the fall and to Ric, CCri,and URI. Plan C is reapply to Bcc and apply to Umass. I heard that Umass doesn't really like to accept transfers and that it would take me 3 to 4 years to complete. Not an option.

Specializes in GYN/GON/Med-Surg/Oncology/Tele.

Where are you applying?

Winston Salem State University

East Carolina University

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? Current GPA 3.1

Not sure for either

What is your plan A, B, C...?

Plan A is to hopefully get accepted into one of the programs

Plan B is to maybe try to get into either a CT or MRI program at the CC

Plan C is MAT in Elementary Ed.

Specializes in ICU.

I had talked myself out of applying this spring since I still need to take micro, english 2 and re-take AP2 - but yesterday all that went out the window. I desided to just jump right in and apply. I highly doubt I'll get accepted - but at least I'lll knwo what to expect when I re-apply next time.

I will be applying at TCC in Fort Worth

My GPA is 3.18

I believe their deadline is the end of Septemeber

Plan B? Hmmm... well, if once I've finished all my pre-reqs and I havent been accepted, I plan to take a CNA class and do that while I keep on re-applying to NS. Nursing is my ultimate goal and I know I will get there eventually. :)

Where are you applying? I applied to Mass College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences for the accelerated BSN program in Nursing.

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? My GPA is a 3.5 for science and a 3.7 regular gpa

When is your schools deadline? There is rolling admissions until October of 08

When does the acceptance letters go out? Acceptance letters go out on a rolling basis. I just got a letter saying that my application is complete and I should hear in a few weeks.

What is your plan A, B, C...? If I don't get in, I think I might go and get my CNA and start working. Then I'll probably apply to other schools in the fall.

I am so nervous...I just want to find out.

Just a suggestion...some schools have paramedic/EMT to BSN programs, at least one school here in NC offers it. I guess that's something you could look into for maybe plan C.

I am also applying for Jan 08 at Lone Star (Kingwood). Deadline is 9/15. I have a 3.7 GPA and 11.4 points. I suppose I'll just apply again in Fall if I don't get in for January, but I feel relatively confidant. I would have loved to go to a BSN in the med cntr, but realistically can't swing it. I've got 3 little girls and I'd like to stay married! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!:loveya:

Specializes in Med Surg.

I'm a Fall '09 hopeful. I've got several pre-reqs (algebra, a&p, chemistry) that I have to get out of the way that I want to take next spring, then on to nursing school!

I haven't decided where I'm applying yet. I've got appointments next Monday at a community college and at a small nursing school affiliated with a large hospital. I want to see what's out there.

I haven't been in school in 9 years--graduated with a BA in history in '99, with a 3.94. I'm hoping I can continue that into nursing school.

Plan B--if for some reason I don't get in to nursing school, I'll stick with my day job and re-apply again next semester.

Specializes in 0 as RN, 3 in ICU and Tele as Tech.

Thanks to everyone that has replied! Let's keep it going and each other encouraged!! :yeah:
